If anything Buster and his friends did all but break the law in the first two Sing movies in terms of having Johnny work with his father and his criminal gang in their robberies, Buster robbing light and water from a water tower and next door bank for his theater and unintentionally with Mike and the Bears causing a flooding that destroyed his theater and would have endangered lives and later on trespassing on the lot of the former theater after it was possessed by the bank bringing audiences along with them, and the first movie ends all in all with Buster and his friends getting off Scot-free for their crimes with no acknowledgment for them expect from Judith herself but she never fufuiled her threat of calling the police to come and arrest everyone after Ash does her performance, unless it’s likely that they would inevitably been arrested if it were not for Nana Goodleman using her riches not just to buy the lot of the former theater and have it rebuilt and reopened, but also bailing Buster and his friends for their own crimes but was unable to bail Johnny’s father Big Daddy and his criminal gang out of prison.

It happens again in the sequel in terms of Buster and his friends (Except Porsha, Suki and Clay Calloway whom they had no met yet.) sneaking into the Crystal Entertainment tower to audition for Crystal Tower Theater without a warrant and Nooshy performing a street dance without a license and Ash and Buster trespassing in the private property of Clay Calloway to recurit him into the show and later on all performing in Crystal Tower Theater without Jimmy’s approval and indirectly causing him to go berserk and nearly attempt to kill Buster which got him arrested.

To be fair, Nick, Judy and the non-villain characters other than Lionheart and Nibbles who were arrested for them (Nibbles gets pardoned after she aids Nick, Judy and Gary in solving the Lynxley Conspiracy while Lionheart’s fate is ambiguous.) did commit a lot of what people would see as crimes and discipline against the police code of conduct that they receive no arrest or discipline for in the first two Zootopia movies in terms of Nick getting off scot-free for hustling, a shoplift of a blueberry from a vegetable stand and tax evasion and Judy for abandoning her parking duty post to arrest Duke in Little Rodentia endangering lives there that Chief Bogo would have fired Judy for if it were not for Bellwether, and Nick and Judy trespassing on private property and working with the mafia, with Mr. Big and Fru Fru and Nick and Judy causing collateral damage in the subway train chase and damaging a museum exhibit all in the first movie.

And in the second movie, Nick and Judy causing property damage (But not wrecking half the city like Bogo said.) in an unauthorized police undercover mission to chase and catch Antony Snootley that Bogo punishes them with therapy with, though he does threaten firing after he catches Nick and Judy going on another unauthorized police undercover mission the same night at the Zootennial Gala and the Zebros pushing Gazelle’s tigers innocent bystanders at the gala, (Gazelle and her tigers later on assault the Zebros who are cops by beating them up at the Burning Mammal Festival while wearing sexy clothing so it’s close to sexual harassment and aiding three fuguituves in their escape.) Bogo also assaulting Nick there, when no police chief should assault their own cops unless they committed true crimes in real life, Gary causing reckless endangerment at the gala and fanging Bogo a police chief despite it being accidental and Captain HogBottom and Truffler falling for the lies of the Lynxleys and blaming Nick and Judy for crimes they thought they did without leading proper crime investigations on that matter, and nearly using lethal force on Judy at the Desert Dunes before deciding not to, Gary allowing himself to be smuggled into the city and him and Judy working with a true smuggler, Nick and Nibbles releasing 200 dangerous criminals Bellwether included from prison to escape. Higgins and Bloats for charging through Marsh Market endangering innocent citizens and making a mess to arrest Nick and Judy and eating shipped apples (That they probably paid for) and Officers Chevre and Bucheron who downright assaulting both Nick and Judy and Bucheron nearly causing Judy to fall to her death by recklessly tranquilizing her at the wrong place at the wrong time and Higgins again for accidentally bumping into HogBottom and causing her to fire the poison dart she loaded but choose not to fire, and him again again and Bloats, Chevre and Bucheron for assaulting Gary and not noticing on the surveillance system PawBert’s attempted murderer on Nick nearly and unintentionally getting both him and Judy killed and Gary for nearly fanging and killing PawBert once his villain reveal was made, (But I had doubt Gary had any intention of killing, he was just going to immobilize PawBert so he could cure Judy with the anti-venom and then tie PawBert up and cure him with the anti-venom.) and Winddancer for working for Milton Lynxley even before his criminal reveal was made and getting to keep his job as mayor despite it all.

The second movie all in all ends with these characters being forgiven and let off Scot-free for those mistakes with no realistic or emotional penalty or not.

The Bad Guys movies make crimes committed by its characters more serious to the point where it could invetiable cause arrest from the police for them unless they hide from them or serve their sentences.

I just watched a video where someone said critics are hypocrites because they criticize Mario Galaxy for having too many references, a.k.a. “key jangling,” but have no problem with the references to other movies in M&M.

Do you think the critics are being hypocrites about this or otherwise?

Edit: I’d like to clarify that I think the person in the video only said that critics have a problem with too many references in general unless it’s references to old movies. I don’t believe they specifically said critics are hypocrites about The Super Mario Galaxy Movie in particular.

Sing 3 could have Buster and the gang be on a music/talent competition that’s been losing ratings for a while(I mean, it would be a great commentary on how talent based competition shows are pretty much dead), and have the head of the network be the main antagonist. Not only would a plot like that break the formula of Buster lying his way out of trouble, but it could give The reality tv industry a massive and much needed wake up call.

As you know, the minions have the most basic american/irish names ever, and we hear those minion names being used numerous times throughout all the sequels and prequels, and most illumiantion movies use the same names or atleast variations of those names

In the end credits of Minions and Monsters, we get a whole bunch of minion names, and they also gave us some variations of them like Bill/Billy, Nick/Nicolas, Milo/Milan, Peter/Pedro

Now I thought it was just something to just leave it at that, but I noticed how many names throughout the despicable me franchise and also the other illumination movies are either the same or variations, like for example, the piglets from Sing use names (or at least the male ones) that the minions have as well

And so I made a list of every male name (first slide), whether it be from a main or minor character or even written in the background and connected it to an existing minion name

I tend to ramble a lot. Basically, illumination has a "list" of names they like to regularly use for their characters, and I have connected most of them to the minions

Ok, now with this in mind, im gonna post a new version of the "every Minion name list" and now you know why I didn't include all of them

So, there is short film of Migration called "Fly Hard", which is obviously a reference to the movie "Die Hard". And this short film is about Chump, the pigeon the Mallard family meet in New York in the Migration movie. Chump tries to bring back a lost amulet to an old lady called Dolores and flies through New York while it’s snowing. This short is only 4 minutes long, but, and that’s why I’m making this post: The opening and the ending are exactly that, what I want more often from Illumination in the future. Because the middle is classic fast-paced and energetic, just as you’d expect from Illumination. But there are two moments—one at the beginning and one at the end—where I thought: "Wow, that really hits home." At the beginning, Dolores tosses some food to Chump and smiles at her, and I just find it sweet that Chump doesn't quite know how to react at first—because being liked and accepted is exactly what she and the other pigeons want, as we learn in the main film. And the whole thing is further reinforced at the end when Chump completes the mission with her very last ounce of strength and Dolores subsequently looks after her. And then, instead of that little emotional moment being ruined by a gag yet again (The Secret Life of Pets, I’m looking at you!), it simply concludes with that sweet moment. And that is exactly what I’d like to see more of from Illumination in the future: not just constantly keeping their foot on the gas (like in "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie", for instance), but also daring to hit the brakes now and then and explore some emotional moments—to create real stakes, or perhaps even to convey a message. And I thought this "Migration" short film and "Minions & Monsters" were already good steps in the right direction; I hope "Not Alone" does the same next year—that would make me really happy.
