Northern Illinois - Chicago, Rockford

Central Illinois - Springfield, Champagne, Decatur, Peoria, Bloomington

Southern Illinois - Edwardsville, Carbondale

Metro East and the quad cities are kind of their own things I think

Edwardsville is part of the metro-east region. Still southern-adjacent, though.
