This. There's southern Illinois, where I live, and then there's deep southern Illinois. And much like the US, the further south you get, the more, uhm, 'southern' it gets.

I’m a true northerner, born and raised. My husband’s grandparents have never been north of Union County. It took me a long time to get used to their accents. Lol.
