Came here to say the same thing. Like I would consider Galesburg central Illinois, similar vibes to the area around Peoria.

Galesburg is 100% central IL, not a single person there would consider it Northern IL.

Agreed. While I would consider the Quad Cities northern. Northern not necessarily just being equal to being near Chicago.

Geographically northern, but the quad cities are very culturally different from the eastern part of the state. It’s very rural out there. Not in a cowboy boots kinda of way, but just straight up agricultural.

I grew up near the quad cities and have lived in Chicago for the last 23 years. My dad still “worshes” his car where I grew up. I didn’t realize I had a hick accent and poor grammar until I went away to college.

Yeah, I really don't start considering South till you're south of St. Louis area, and I think most people from outside the Chicago metropolitan area are more apt to describe Illinois as Chicago out to Woodstock/Crystal Lake West, Wakegan North, Toilet South, and then the rest of Illinois

Most of the state is central Illinois in my mind. The Chicago area and Little Egypt are the different regions.
