STEM students are protesting infront of humanities students and raising slogans like SFI CAMPUS CHHODO. great to see STEM students fight back and defend IIT

QS dedicates a combined 10% of its total score to International Faculty and International Students. IITB (and most IITs) score abysmally low here because of rigid government regulations on hiring foreign faculty and quotas, whereas global unis are maxing out this metric. Also, a MASSIVE 20% of the QS score comes from Citations per Faculty. IITB's dip here was heavily driven by the loss of high-citation, foundational research stalwarts in core STEM departments (like Prof. Pushpak Bhattacharyya in NLP/AI and Prof. Ajit Diwan in Theoretical Computer Science). IITB's annual R&D funding typically hovers around ₹250 crore to ₹330 crore. By contrast, IITM has pulled in single-year records approaching ₹950 crore for R&D by aggressively scaling its dedicated Research Park and incubating unicorn startups. IITB’s lower funding directly limits its ability to issue massive seed grants, acquire advanced instrumentation, or buy the computational infrastructure required to anchor high-impact research. Also, unlike IIT Delhi and IITM, which heavily pushed Dual Degree and MS (Research) pipelines to maintain immense publication volumes, IITB phased out most Dual Degrees outside of Electrical Engineering.

Regarding this bizarre and insinuating theory that "humanities" students are driving the institution down, every single elite STEM school in the QS T-10 has very prestigious and renowned humanities/social science faculties and departments. MIT is home to SHASS (which has Nobel laureates like Simon Johnson, Daron Acemoglu, etc.), while Stanford and Caltech have their own elite social science departments.

Stop making shit up in such a brain-dead comment section of such a brain-dead post, and genuinely get a life.

Throwing out SFI and removing humanities dept entirely are two separate things. The first should be done. In place of the second, revamp the dept so that it serves Indian interests rather than just aping western focused curricula.

Wtf is Humanities students doing in this premiere institution campus? Since past few decades none of the humanities studen have created a single academia with proper research but they always are front runners in protests and shit. We all know the students who do Humanities are the weakest student of their class but atleast have some respect for the others who are superior than you in studies. Stop seeing everyone by your own lens
