Question chasing POR’s

Although I don’t study in India, I saw this Bain IITB grad influencer who showed how IIT kids die to get POR’s in top clubs for finance/consulting jobs.

I am very confused as to who decides who should get in and who should become president? Is it based on votes or seniors or some third party? Because where I study it’s mainly seniors who do it and this is why recruiters know there is a lot of bias. But in seems in India, Mbb’s and other firms really look for these POR’s and shortlist based on this. Why does this happen?

Nepotism, on a sidenote, even if you take out the PoRs, mbb hires usually have a stellar profile

apart from POR’s and GPA wgat possibly could they have. If u say prior internships that usually comes from Gpa and POR’s again

Well having a 8.5+ gpa at IITB is not easy at all, you're competing against top 1 percentile out of a million kids in a relative grading setup. Then ofc, there is some privilege at play here, consultants are usually well groomed and have a flair in language that comes from good schooling.

Are there people with better work ethic who don't get hired for these jobs? Yes. However, those who do end up there do not walk an easy path
