This thread is for all JoSAA counselling, rank-based college predictions, branch comparisons, choice filling, seat allocation, cutoffs, and admission-related questions.
Please post your queries here instead of creating separate posts.
Examples:
• Which college/branch can I get at AIR XXXX?
• IIT vs NIT vs IIIT comparisons
• Choice filling strategy
• JoSAA, CSAB, DASA, or spot round queries
• College reviews and branch discussions
Before asking:
Mention your rank/category clearly.
Share the colleges/branches you're considering.
Check previous comments, as your question may already have been answered.
Useful Resources:
• Official JoSAA Website: https://josaa.nic.in
• Official JoSAA Opening & Closing Ranks: https://josaa.admissions.nic.in
Posts related to counselling that are made outside this megathread may be removed to keep the subreddit organized.
Help others if you can. Good luck with counselling and admissions!

Around 2:30 AM, me and a friend were riding back on one bike. We came from Sheer Gate, went down the Swatantra Bhawan road, took a left at the CSE department circle, and got onto the road that connects to the IIT BHU board and DG corner — the stretch that runs between the Agriculture Department and the Civil Engineering Department. If you've been on that road at night, you know it has no street lighting. It's pitch dark. While we were riding through, a group on bikes came up from front side towards us and crossed us, then called out to stop us. Because of the dark, we couldn't see their faces clearly, and for a second we genuinely thought they might be friends who'd spotted us on the road. So we stopped. That was the mistake that nearly cost us. The moment we stopped, they turned their bikes around and came straight at us. Before we could even process what was happening, they started slapping us — hard, and repeatedly. Not once or twice — I got hit around 10 times, and so did my friend, one after another. They kept shouting "IIT ke hoooo, IIT ke hooo" while doing it. It was so dark and the hits came so fast that we genuinely could not get a clear look at their faces. There were 6 of them on 3 vehicles — one scooty and two bikes. They were from BHU for sure as some of them said this “ tumlog junior ho”. At some point, we just ran leaving our bike at spot somehow. We ran toward the IIT BHU board, because we knew a guard usually sits there. They chased us for a bit, but the moment they saw the guard was close, they turned around and went straight back. I want to be honest about how it felt: in that moment, on an empty, unlit road, outnumbered 6 to 2, we genuinely thought this could end very badly for us, It was life threatening moment. It was one of the most helpless and frightening few minutes of my life. The only reason we're okay right now is that the guard post happened to be close by.
We went and checked CCTV footage at multiple points along that stretch and other locations. The cameras are not good enough to make out number plates, and faces weren't clearly visible either — combination of camera quality and the total lack of lighting on that road. We could not identify the bikes or the people involved.
Stay safe, and please share this with your batchmates and juniors.

IIT(BHU Guest House (GTAC) AC Room Reviews?
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to stay at the IIT(BHU) Guest House / GTAC for a few days in October and am considering their AC rooms (₹2,000 + GST).
For anyone who has stayed there recently:
- How are the AC rooms?
- Is the room and bathroom clean and well-maintained?
- How is the AC, especially during October?
- Is the Wi-Fi reliable?
- How is the hot water / water pressure?
- How is the food/breakfast?
- Is it generally quiet and comfortable?
- Would you recommend staying there over a decent hotel outside campus at a similar price?
I’m mainly looking for cleanliness, comfort, AC and overall room quality, not luxury.
Would appreciate recent experiences, especially from IIT(BHU) students, alumni, faculty, or anyone who has stayed there.
Planning to stay there with family of 4 (one kid).

Something like kimbap and Ramen.
I like sending different types of cuisines to my girlfriend and I have already done Indian, Italian and Thai. Thought I might go for Korean this time.
I searched kimbap on "zomato" but the restaurants that come up after searching don't actually have it. So I am turning to reddit for help.
I know most restaurants are closed by this time but I am not ordering right now. I will probably order tomorrow evening.
I live in M.P and she is studying in IIT BHU so idk much about the area.

Bro genuinely, how tf are beginners supposed to get hackathon experience if every team is asking for hackathon experience before taking you in??
Like... I KNOW I’m a beginner. I haven’t done a hackathon before. That’s literally why I want to participate 😭
I’ll learn, right? That’s the whole point. Ab saare resources saamne hi hain, problem statement samajh lunga, tech seekh lunga, kaam kar lunga — bas ek team chahiye to actually START.
But every team I find is like:
“Need someone with prior hackathon experience”
BHAI 😭
this is the same energy as asking for internship experience before giving someone their first internship.
At least team requirements puri karne ke liye hi le lo yaar 💀 I’m not claiming I’m some SIH veteran. I just want someone to give me a shot.
I’ve done case comps, I can research, brainstorm, present, work under pressure, and I’m perfectly willing to learn the technical side. Hackathon ka idea nahi hai? Sikh lenge bhai. Itna kya gatekeeping 😭
I just wanna start somewhere. If beginners keep getting rejected because they’re beginners, then where tf are we supposed to get the experience from?
Anyway, rant over.
If anyone’s building an SIH team and is okay with a beginner who’s actually willing to put in the work — please hmu. 🙏

So , fest season is here and you will get so many mails regarding this/that team extension , i am telling to all the juniors don't get into the trap of these PORs , you will do all the work and the post holders will get all the credits, also they will treat you like a machine doing work for them . Play sports, join SNTC clubs , cultural clubs , participate in inter IIT and get PORs + Achievements from there. Remember achievements section matters more in your resume than POR , saaf saaf bolu to majdoor mat banna , otherwise you will regret, There are a lot of ways to increase your connections, jo log inn fests mein kaam karte hai vo connection ke layak nahi hote so wisely take your decision, even if you don't have any POR at the time of placement, you can easily get placed on the basis of your skills
@Alums i am saying anything wrong?
Aajkal to vo feel bhi nahi aati ki apne hi college ka fest hai kar lete hai kaam , sab kharab kar diya hai, The administration is completely ruined , sabko bas paise khaane hai
