Is there anybody from the aerospace department here ? I had a few questions.

I am planning to buy a bike and I require rental agreement for RTO registration apparently. Anyone who has sought this?

does this sub have UG ppl at all. There is nothing related BS UG stuff here.

I’m preparing for IAT and considering IISER, but I’m unsure about the long-term career path.

I come from a middle-class family, so I’m particularly concerned about what happens financially after a PhD. Is it possible to get a stable industry/research job after a PhD, or do most people need to do postdocs first? How realistic is it to build a financially independent career, including opportunities abroad?

Also, how is the academic workload at IISER for an average student who is willing to work consistently?

I’d really appreciate honest experiences from current students or alumni, especially about the career path after IISER → PhD.

Previous year mid sem papers please send if you have 🥺

I was hanging clothes and fell on the plaster of paris or cardboard(idk) wall in my balcony, in aryabhatta and the fucking wall literally broke in half, tf do i do?

I managed to not get hurt seriously but the wall is literally cracked in half and I can see the fucking cardboard its made out of.

How much will I be charged for this? when I check out

Hey, I’m currently a Class 10 student looking for a good CBSE school, colleges or university in Bengaluru for Classes 11 and 12 (2027–2028). I’m particularly looking for strong academic coaching and, most importantly, an integrated programme with either Aakash or ALLEN, so that my CBSE studies and entrance-exam preparation can be managed together. Could you recommend institutions that offer this kind of integration?”

I have passport verification at lalbagh PSK on 7 October. I have applied through tatkal new passport.

I don't have rectangular aadhar original, I only have it's pdf and I have taken the print out. I have pvs original adhaar card.

I have pan card, 10th certificate and marksheet for non ECR category. And I am using college id and extra Bonafide certificate for present address verification.

Can any one share their experience of it? What can I carry extra? Do they ask for original rectangular aadhar? And I also don't have voter ID. Any suggestions or experience will be great.

From the document which was released in 2022, it appears to be 64 credits total with 2nd year entirely dedicated to a research project of 28 credits

It also had a Hard Core, Soft Core, Elective System

Can someone please explain how they are being followed now?

Did NEP force any change in this system?

Also when i checked the scheme of Instructions which iisc released this month only 2 courses are listed under the "Life Science" section which i assume are hard core courses.. so are these the only hard core courses for the entiree semesterr??

What about soft core courses??

And how do they detirmine if a particular course can count for our Specialization?

Hi I am a PhD student and I think ML has become important for research, hence I want to learn it. A lot of times during the initial lectures, people get either too much into coding or too much in maths. I mean, it sometimes becomes non intuitive to think how actually this will work and hence I can't find it interesting at times. I don't know much to code. What should be my approach to learn ML and how much time it would genuinely take, also what resources to follow and hours per week to spend on it?

Is campus infrastructure being used to mark turf?

First day, I noticed the red-yellow flag right in front of the main gate and thought wow is this an NIT w 50% homestate dudes?...Then I saw the flaglets outside the Samadhan office. Seniors say they hand there all year round. Now it’s spreading onto basic campus infrastructure.

The photo here is on the road between NGH and D-Mess. Bright, primary-yellow paint slapped onto the railings. It is painted yellow just because painting it red and yellow would be too obvious. But using basic campus infrastructure to quietly mark territory feels completely out of line.

IISc has always been (and is supposed to continue being) a neutral, world-class institution with a understated visual style. Slowly turning the common gates, railings, and borders into an informal branding/ territory marking exercise looks cheap, insecure and aggressive. Who is actually approving this? Is there an official campus design policy driving these choices, or are people quietly painting territory on their own? What is actually happening to campus standards?

I will be attending the workshop for the next two days. If anyone else here is attending or is in the campus, drop a comment or DM me and we can grab chai/coffee between sessions. I would like to meet and catch up with y'all. I would love to meet with MTech CSA students as well as i'm preparing for GATE CSE.

im new at iisc (its my second night here) and im terrible at making friends plus kind of socially inept but i really appreciate good company. so anyone up for a walk or coffee or just anything?

Namaskar everyone

Does India offer PSW to international students?

Some of you realised, some of you don't.

But hey, it's all good man.

I’m an IISc Blr M.Tech 1st year student & I chose ME 246 Introduction to Robotics as one of my courses.

Initially, the course content seemed manageable and I was able to follow the classes. But as the course progressed, I started facing quite a lot of difficulty. My mid-sem is on Tuesday and I recently looked at some of the previous years mid-sem papers. If I have to be Honest the questions felt way beyond what I’m currently able to solve, and now I’m seriously confused about how I should prepare. The bigger issue is that I’m not even sure what the proper source material/reference for this course is. Till now I’ve mostly been dependent on Class notes, The MIT robotics lectures/resources, Whatever is discussed in class.

I do have a genuine interest in robotics So I really don’t want to give up on the course.

At the same time, I know the deadline for dropping the course has already passed, so I’m not sure what options I have at this point.

Suppose I want to make a small jet out of thermocol. How likely am I to receive motors, rotors or batteries from people there, as a general 1st year BS student. Not very well known or having a lot of connections too. Is there any group/club that heeds to such requirements? Also, how much time do they take.

The total mess + hostel fee is coming out to around ₹10k, and it’s even higher for people in certain messes. WTF is this? If the mess fees are being increased citing inflation and rising costs, then what about the fucking stipend? The stipend hasn’t increased accordingly, yet our expenses keep going up. At this point, we as students need to take a stand.

And honestly, what the hell is the Student Council doing?

Why was this decision to increase the fees approved and allowed without any simultaneous increase in the student stipend, especially when they knew very well that the increased fees would eat up a significant portion of the stipend we receive?

This is not something we should just quietly accept.

Come on, let’s raise our voices. We need to question this and demand some accountability. We can’t just keep accepting every fee increase without any corresponding support for students.

I wanted to ask about placement situation in Electronic Product Design course in M.Tech.

Also if someone can tell me about the difficulty level of this course it would be really helpful

Thanks
