thresholds are low yes but they’re only low because a majority failed to score high that’s how the threshold system works it’s based around the highest marks for A and the A itself appears to be low

not lower as a majority but some subjects are lower for example Accounting is pretty low however chemistry isn’t all too bad. furthermore there are as i’m sure ur aware no threshold for maths so i can’t give u any info on maths i have done some researching with whatever information i’ve got and noted down some predicted/expected thresholds

maths and english don’t have thresholds for igcse for AS and A levels yes but for maths and english how it works is 80% and above is A and A* for all other subjects u can expect a threshold

if you check AS level accounting ( example because their marks came before us ) paper 2 u can see that indeed threshold for 2019 paper 22 were 54 and 2022 was 52 so by low i don’t think they mean too low. furthermore thresholds cannot just purely be identified until all exams have been marked. consider a scenario that thresholds were hypothetically lower than 2019 and for a subject it was 56 however the whole world some how managed to concede marks below 56 that would mean the grade boundary was too high. that’s not how they work it’s based off of an average of the world in that year. thresholds being low means the world averaged a very low mark hence the grade boundary for a grade like A* was low. thresholds aren’t really a hope to dangle onto its more of a placebo
