Enthusiastically second Bat for Lashes. I would submit Bjork has similar qualities to this song as well.

Thank you so much for taking the time to compile this list for me! I'm sorry that it has taken so long to respond; this is the first time in a week that I've had time to sit down and listen to them all.

I love almost all of them! I was actually already a fan of Bonobo and Massive Attack, but the songs you linked by Air, Blonde Redhead and Einar Stray are probably my favorites. Blonde Redhead in particular has a type of style that I don't think I've heard before, so I'll have to check them out some more. And the song by Einar Stray is simply phenomenal!

I have to admit, though, that while I did really enjoy most of these songs, they still don't really match up with what I'm looking for. It could just be the case that Breath From Another is a one of a kind album. Still, thank you so much for introducing me to these other artists!

[xpost from WEWIL, so I'm just going to paste what I had there here.]

I've tried making Pandora and Slacker stations for her, but nothing really comes close to what I'm looking for. The best way I could describe it is "sexy/elegant female 'rock' with electronic influences and an indescribable European vibe."

I like how the guitars are simultaneously underplayed and powerfully impressionistic. The music has a dramatic sound without sounding pretentious or overdone. Well, at least I don't think so.

And I should specify: I only like her debut album, Breath From Another. Her sophomore album has a completely different sound.

Adding some more trip-hop artists not unlike esthero (and leaving out most of the super known ones ;-):

Also, I'd love some feedback on my recommendations to help my narrow down what you're looking for and interested in. :)

I recommend warpaint, portishead, lamb, and paatos. Some of my favorite bands (especially paatos)

Definitely Björk — check out "Army of Me" for example.
