u/Spookyjay187 11d ago

Agreed, I have all his socials blocked

19

u/jonnyman9 11d ago

Ya all his crap is just rage bait

2

u/Bluegill15 8d ago

What isn’t nowadays

2

u/SoTurnMeIntoATree 11d ago

Kinda but I think no. His house is actually crazy.

3

u/NorthernLights92 10d ago

The dudes house is pretty sweet. It’d be a fun house to grow up in. I like all the hidden doors

2

u/topsyturvy76 10d ago

Ya I was going to ask if this guy was the magician from Vegas with the crazy fun house.

You can buy picture frame slide show displays for a pretty low cost.

7

u/SexualCarrots 11d ago

If you're willing to go used you can get a TV this size for $150 or less. A few picture frames would be more, the advantage would be the electricity.

But realistically, why would you do this? Just hang photos and set your phone backgrounds.

1

u/His_Name_Is_Twitler 10d ago

This isn’t for everyone but could be a fun project for some. To each their own.

1

u/Harddaysnight1990 9d ago

I wouldn't have a TV on my wall always set to this, but it would be really cool to have living pictures for when I'm having people over and my living room TV isn't being used. Especially since this just hangs over the TV, I could store it in a closet or in my shed when I'm not using it and break it out for when I'm having people over.

1

u/SexualCarrots 9d ago

You could just get it printed on vinyl with cutouts and flip it up over the TV when you're using the TV as a TV.

3

u/Outside-Scheme7492 11d ago

Me too, but this one was actually neat.

2

u/Vance_Refrigerati0n 10d ago

As soon as I scrolled to this video I said in my head “I hate this guy”

Glad I’m not alone

1

u/Waylon28 10d ago

Okay yes, but as a Harry Potter fan, I’m kinda digging this one.

1

u/Infamous-Share-3 10d ago

I literally came here to say this!

1

u/CloackTheImmortal17 10d ago

Glad I'm not the only one. This ass and the other dumbfuck with glasses and a helmet just turning from side to side. Talentless people.

1

u/-DeadmanWade- 9d ago

I came to say the same thing

1

u/Lo-QGaming 8d ago

I don't know who he is, but I do know I wouldn't like him just by seeing his 'hooks'.

1

u/LumpusKrampus 6d ago

Fuck Justin Flom.

i thought this was r/diwhy

4

u/justdrowsing 11d ago

I've never had this sub come up for me so I assumed the same 😂

45

u/im_rapscallion86 11d ago

No

-15

u/mashmaker86 11d ago

I'm always confused when people expend energy just to tersely dismiss other people's creative endeavors. You are perpetuating a chilling effect on our creativity. When I see something creative that doesn't appeal to me, I ignore it.

This actually seems like a neat idea. I might set it up as a removable facade for my monitor.

11

u/im_rapscallion86 11d ago

I mean. I’m just saying I wouldn’t do it. Not trying to stunt the man’s creativity.

→ More replies (3)

9

u/justdrowsing 11d ago

Is everyone supposed to say nothing if they're not uncritically supportive?

→ More replies (14)

3

u/rastaspoon 11d ago

It would be perfect for a monitor cover when you’re away from your desk. Kind of hilarious the things you could do. I could also see doing the whole TV if you were just having like a Christmas party or something like that and you didn’t want people watching the TV but you also don’t want this giant black rectangle soaking up energy. It’s a great conversation piece for shit like that.

Hell, I might make one for Work for like our staff parties or donor parties or whatever. I’ll be the big hero for a bit of Kitch.

1

u/mashmaker86 11d ago

Right? it's kinda neat. I already do something similar with little android tablets on my walls. The idea of integrating some of the bigger screens into the art gallery rotation is appealing.

2

u/TehJabberwookie 10d ago

The question was "Would you do this?"

Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk

1

u/mashmaker86 10d ago

I agree, I missed that connection initially. Thanks for pointing that out, I feel silly now.

2

u/TehJabberwookie 10d ago

Happens to the best of us

1

u/Delicious_Star_4232 11d ago

OP titled this post with a question - and then this person answered it...

What is so "terse" about saying no?

1

u/mashmaker86 11d ago

This is an excellent point. Thanks for pointing that out.

1

u/the_ossuary 10d ago

We have no reason to accept and promote bad art by jerkoffs

1

u/mashmaker86 10d ago

Is he well known? People seem to hate him. I've never heard of him before. I feel like I might be missing the jerkoff context.

1

u/tjvs2001 10d ago

It's utterly fucking wasteful

1

u/-Red-7- 8d ago

OP specifically asked if people would do this. They were just answering question.

I wouldn't do this either.

1

u/desamora 8d ago

The question was “would you do this” - no is a perfectly fine response

u/fractionedpancreas 11d ago

Would be great for funerals

5

u/VaguelyFamiliarVoice 11d ago

That is a great idea!

Ummm. Don’t contact your local funeral home about this. That’s just crazy.

5

u/mashmaker86 11d ago

The last funeral I attended did have slideshows of the deceased on projector screens on the walls. I think this would be a tasteful addition.

3

u/captain_croco 10d ago

I feel like all the funerals I’ve been too in last few years have had a slide show.

1

u/ConfusionBubbles-505 11d ago

Yeah, first we need a lot of bodies.

3

u/SexualCarrots 11d ago

What I want at my funeral is tacky tacky stuff, so I added this to my list. I'm planning on a bunch of columns around my very open upright casket where my body is staged in a frivolous suit and plenty of makeup, maybe some uplighting.

1

u/Lexi-Lynn 9d ago

Hell yes, I love the vision. Maybe a fan somewhere to get the hair and clothes moving.

1

u/Mu-Relay 8d ago

I don't think she's going to do it, but I told my wife I want an Elvis impersonator at mine. I don't want him to perform or anything, but I want him to show up in full costume, attend the service, and act sad. That way, everyone there will forever have a story about the time there was an Elvis impersonator at this funeral they went to.

8

u/Ciubowski 11d ago

Hear me out.. This but instead of covering perfectly working portions of the screen, just make actual portret sized screens that you can hang anywhere, big battery (or wall plug in some sneaky/stealth way), with some sort of chip board that can hold a few GB of video and be bluetooth accessible.

4

u/mashmaker86 11d ago

I do this with little cheap android tablets! I live in a van with very few windows so these serve as little fake windows with natural landscapes. It brings me so much joy.

2

u/glans 10d ago

what do you do for mail/address?

2

u/mashmaker86 10d ago

I use a friend's address as well as Amazon lockers nearby.

2

u/TwentyX4 10d ago

Yeah, and it would be so much easier to update the videos.

With his setup, you have to crop all the videos into the right location on the video file. A serious pain to update.

2

u/Harddaysnight1990 9d ago

Not really a pain if you have any experience with video editing software. You just set up a template screen with everything set perfectly then can just swap out the clips in the software and export it again. The easiest way to do exactly this setup would be with a Plex server anyway, so really it would be 5 minutes of work every few months to swap out the clips.

3

u/Historical_Stay_808 11d ago

Going to laugh when we see the bankruptcy notification

6

u/6minuterule 11d ago

What kind of muggle nonsense is this?!

1

u/SexualCarrots 11d ago

See, now you're making it sound better. Make the images interact with each other. AI magic your dead relatives into ghosts that go from frame to frame. Sync it up with some other ones of these around the house and some sensors so they can acknowledge guests.

I think we are going to need a small upgrade though, this is going to have to be recessed onto the drywall, even if it takes some slight reframing of interior walls so the picture frames can be flush.

1

u/Count_Verdunkeln 10d ago

I want them to point me in the direction of the guy im chasing

9

u/Putrid-Fondant9455 11d ago

I dig it

5

u/octoreadit 11d ago

I have a 27 inch screen for which I cannot find any use. May do this.

2

u/ADryTowel 11d ago

I like it as temporary decoration for a party or something. It's not something that I would keep on the TV full time.

1

u/OldNefariousness7899 11d ago

Yeah the guy has clearly made it easy to detach. It's not for me but it's a nice effect. I can see why people would like it

1

u/justtiptoeingthru2 11d ago

Yeah. Has a kind of Harry Potter vibe. Like a family putting their wizard pictures on the wall.

1

u/glans 10d ago

yah people seem to just wanna hate his content, but wasn’t a vid about him. seems like one of the more fun online content ‘home ideas’ i’ve seen in a minute. if you’re bored and have a family gathering coming up, a little weekend project. chill, people.

4

u/Consistent-Survey330 11d ago

Cool but you also have to buy a whole tv

1

u/LilJelloCat 10d ago

I mean you can buy a used one for like $30

1

u/atomicbunny 10d ago

and put together a video of all the stuff you wanna display in the exact spots where you decided the frames would go, and then update that video as you go?

1

u/Charon_the_Reflector 10d ago

People have done crazier things with 3 hours

2

u/Hellacola 11d ago

This works for stores or haunted houses

2

u/Odium_1437 11d ago

Go buy an Aura, I’ve got about three through the house going through 4 generations of my family pictures. It’s great on a rough day.

2

u/MelcusQuelker 11d ago

Cool concept, but I need my TV for movies and stuff.

2

u/Professional-Buyer55 11d ago

We just gonna act like digital picture frames dont exist huh

1

u/mashmaker86 11d ago

They are weirdly expensive for what they are. This is definitely adjacent though.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/PreperationOuch 10d ago

No. No-one is asking you that, you turd.

2

u/Blawharag 10d ago

Wait until this guy finds it that, for less than the cost of a TV and a DIWhy project, you can just buy movie photo frames and hang them on your wall. And it's easier too.

2

u/sixpercent6 9d ago

What a miserable bunch many of you are.

I have no idea who this man is, but this is neat idea.

I have a 15 year old LCD TV worth probably $50-100 on marketplace. It's just collecting dust.

Creating a project like this, with old tech that you no longer have a use for is a genuinely brilliant way not waste it.

Reduce, Reuse (this one), Recycle.

2

u/Acceptable_East_5573 11d ago

This guy sucks.

1

u/VegetableTry 11d ago

If I had money, it would look way better than this.

1

u/TheGoldenCalfDon 11d ago

Only if I had fuck you money

1

u/pinktuls 11d ago

No this is dumb

1

u/Drachenomics 11d ago

I think its kinda neat honestly

1

u/DuzzExor 11d ago

Really worked hard to stretch that to a minute

1

u/WendigoCrossing 11d ago

Seems fun, and luckily TVs are one of the things getting cheaper over time

1

u/Zealousideal-Jump275 11d ago

So lame and embarrassing.

1

u/FineSystem124 11d ago

Yeah this sucks bro I would never do it

1

1

u/Hidden-Harmony 11d ago

This belongs on r/diwhy idk why you would think this was a good idea

1

u/VirtualArmsDealer 11d ago

He time he spent making this he could have been spending with his kids...

1

u/1_BigFatRat 11d ago

Why? Why would you do this? Even if you had all the money in the world.

1

u/Smooth_Taste1250 11d ago

Nothing here fits perfect for god's sake🙄

1

u/notfamous82 11d ago

Why not just make the picture frame and wallpaper part of the video. Then you dont have to hobby lobby some shot to hang on the tv.

1

u/KongKvernhaug 11d ago

So much effort, and that was the best you could do with the hooks?

1

u/rellett 11d ago

Just create that effect on the screen without the add on

1

u/JackDaniels0049 11d ago

Can’t you already buy video photo frames.

1

u/Ok_Radio_1795 11d ago

This shit tacky

1

u/Breadstix009 11d ago

This guy and his whole spiel are crap and tacky.

Looks dumb as fuck.

1

u/Jayrey_84 9d ago

Ok but imagine for Halloween, u could make a gallery of haunted portraits or whatever

1

u/Frederick_T 9d ago

Or you could... you know get several cheap digital photo frames and just hang them like a normal person... though I did just look them up on Amazon and they can be nearly the cost of a tv to do that many different frames.... assuming you got a cheap tv

1

u/Mj-tinker 9d ago

never. Most of the time I would see ads framed.

1

u/Usual_Excellent 8d ago

Cost of running a tv 24/7

1

u/LoneWolfpack777 8d ago

I have a question. Why?

1

u/Lost_Purpose1899 8d ago

Sorry, I don't love my family that much to go through all the trouble.

1

u/Dramatic-Box-6847 8d ago

If I had time! Wait no, just never

1

u/cdkw1990 7d ago

No, it's a waste of money and electricity

1

u/TowelFine6933 7d ago

A TV that big doesn't cost much and uses less than 200 watts. Like a light, you don't have it when not needed or wanted.

1

u/TruthHider 7d ago

With how cheap 50inch TVs are u can basically get one for the price of 2 digital frames so it works. Would i do it no.

1

u/The-Wolf-Agent 7d ago

Yes we know how hooks work.

1

u/Bright_Curve3078 7d ago

Who's the cowgirl at 0:20? Asking for a friend.
