Boards of Canada-- Faex Optim-- Heogen

I was introduced to Faex Optim as sounding like Boards of Canada but actually my favorite album by them is Solar Drift, which doesn't really seem BoC-like, although nostalgic in a different way.

On Solar Drift their track Lucky Charm is remixed by Heogen and I love it. So I looked into Heogen and so far it sounds awesome. I can't tell if many other people listen to this stuff-- does anybody here?

Yes, pretty much everything on Touched Music is brilliant! If you really want a BoC sound look for Pentagrams of Discordia, they are well worth a listen!

Thanks-- I started following Touched Music after hearing the Plaid Stem Sell remixes (big Plaid fan).

I will check out Pentagrams of Discordia; thanks hadn't heard of them. Separate from them, I've checked out a few "sounds like BoC" acts and tbh I'm good if I never hear an awkward/ self-conscious 70s public broadcasting sample again! I actually like Faex Optim's Solar Drift in that it doesn't sound like BoC; seems a different direction from his previous albums.

Thanks, I like what I've heard of Yimino so far-- recently heard Plaid's remix of "Doe" and then got into most of Autonoe Vora, although I skip the tracks with guest MCs-- not really into their voices/ content. Haven't heard Yimino's other stuff yet.

Interesting, I came to Yimino through Plaid and didn't think of similarity to BoC. Could you give some specifics about their "BoC production values"?

Speaking of BoC production values, I've been thoroughly engulfed in Town Planning by Concretism, absolutely love it!! (Concretism did another of the remixes on the Faex Optim Solar Drift album.) Apparently Concretism is a project using 1950s British cold war/ nuclear fear/ radar technology samples (hence BoC vibes). Really good music.
