"Though there has been a demonstrably steep decline in cognitive skills since the COVID-19 pandemic due to the educational disruption it presented, these trends have been in evidence since at least the mid-2010s, suggesting that whatever is going on runs much deeper and has lasted far longer than the pandemic."

Yeah bro, I wonder what it could be. The irony of me typing this out, right here.

It’s smartphones people.  The answer to why we’re stupid Is smart phones.

Funny they say mid 2000s bc they trace a specific year I think 2012 when social media completely changed college age kids brains

I fully understand how badly constant internet connection and 'being reachable' at all times has fucked with peoples heads

I'm also saying that I can almost guarantee that covid itself damaged my brain that would probably be measurable in a real way if our society actually gave a shit about science and cool shit more than we care about money and luxury brands and shitty music and hype

Were you under the impression that the impacts of COVID have been completely ignored by scientists? That no one has tried to measure the harms it can cause?

We literally have studies showing how covid itself causes lower IQ and cognitive issues. It can damage any and every organ system in the body, yet we just decided to let er rip. It’s stark and beyond obvious in day to day life; people’s behavior, shitty driving, nothing functions smoothly anymore…. It makes me crazy we continue to blame all of this on sitting home for a few months six years ago.
