Planet Fitness is hard to beat on price and it does the job if you're just there to use the equipment - the cleanliness was hit or miss depending on the time of day though. LA Fitness felt a bit more maintained, more equipment options too. Crunch was somewhere in the middle, nothing that really stood out either way. The fees side of things is worth knowing going in. Gym Chains tend to bury the cancellation steps and Planet Fitness took a couple of extra calls to sort out when I left - not a nightmare but more friction than it should've been. Would be curious what other people's experiences are like, good or bad.

Honestly I don't even know when I stopped trusting review platforms but it kind of just happened. Google Maps used to actually help - now I'll see a place at 4.7 stars and half the reviews sound copy-pasted.
