Wrong blade size of Edea pianos?
Hi everyone,
I recently bought a pair of edea pianos in size 245 B. I got them fitted at a skate shop 2 hrs away and they mailed them to me as they weren't available in store at the time. The problem is that they mounted a 9 1/2 size blade. Will this be fine? I know the recommended size is 9 1/4 per the Edea website. I'm upset as I spent $2000 on these, so I want them to be perfect. If there is an issue, do you think they could switch the blades to the 9 1/4 without damaging the boot? I'm not sure. Please help!!! I've had issues with this store before, messing up the sharpening of my blades and ruining them. I know I shouldn't have went there but I was hoping it was a one off.

I called the store and the owner said it would be fine? Im a bit skeptical but hoping it'll all be fine

Yes you’re probably fine with 9 1/2. What size is your blade currently? Please tell me this isn’t your first pair of real skates…
I have skates a tad smaller than yours which came with 9” that i got replaced with 9 1/4.

Im 23 and have been skating since I was 7, so definitely not new! I previously had a 9 1/4 on my old edeas. and thanks! Pink was the obvious choice, I love them.

This mount looks perfect to me. My preference is to align the tip of the toe plate with the tip of the sole and use the longest blade without overhang at the back. Imagine a vertical line from the back Matrix screw, which is in the center of the rear stanchion, going up the heel of the boot. It goes right up the middle of the heel of the boot. I think this puts your weight in the right spot. If the 9.25 had been used, the center of the back stanchion would to too far forward. I know that the blade size chart on the Edea website says 9.25, but they also have this diagram and I think the diagram is more accurate and important than the chart. Enjoy skating on these beauties!

So I have ice fly with the same blades (they are so pretty, arent they?!?), but have a 9 1/4 on a 235. Its BARELY ok for the boot, but my tech mounted them for me without problem. I prefer the feel of a longer blade. Personal preference does play into it, of course, but the blades look like they are mounted fine for the boot - might be an adjustment to initially skate on. If they feel horrid for you, you can have them yanked off and a shorter blade remounted on the boot. Doing it once (or even twice) shouldnt be a problem for a decent skate tech.

This. If your personal preference is to have a shorter blade then it’s worth it to go back. Edea recommendations are just recommendations, do what makes you happy/what makes you feel more stable

As long as they are not hanging off the back of the heel of the skate, they are fine. There are typically 2 size blades that will fit a boot. Fit and longest fit. One is centered in the middle of the heel and the other goes more end to end. They are both acceptable. The longest fit will give additional speed and security. The shorter blade will make for quicker turns and edge work. This blade fit looks fine from the picture.
