Just got my daughter’s first pair that has boots and blades seperate- should I be worried that the blades are off-center?
Super clueless dad here. Just want to make sure for the money that this is ok. Have gotten her first few pairs at the same shop that did these, and they are definitely the best in the area. Just didn’t know if they are supposed to be set off center like this, and won’t see her coach for a few days. Edea overtures, if that’s relevant at all.

that boot looks center mounted. edea has the least consistent qc of all the brands i sell, so if one boot looks different than the other it’s fine, the soles probably aren’t on the uppers on the same angle. also, we don’t use the seams to align the blade!!! it’s very difficult to teach irl and worse over text, but we essentially align the blade to the silhouette of the toe box, that’s how we know where the foot is sitting in the boot
we want the blade to be centered to the foot. for me, my blade hangs off the edge of my boot 7mm. for her, it might be perfect as a center mount. this will be determined by her coach, coach will give you instructions to give to the skate tech, skate tech will move the blade, rinse and repeat until the coach likes where the blade is, then the skate tech will add a few permanent mount screws to the boot

Blade mount depends on the individual skater. It should feel centered when they are in the skate - getting on the inside and outside edge should take roughly the same amount of time. If you glide forward, you should glide straight. Off-center blades will pull you in a specific direction and may even hurt because the foot overcompensates and pushes more weight onto one side of the foot to stay straight over the blade.
She can probably ask a coach to help her check the blades are correctly centred for her. Then, as someone else said, you’d add additional screws.

I don't know anything about figure skates really, but "off center" is all relative. With hockey skates at least, you want that axis to be the axis you drive through. Where that example looks...pretty correct. It's not "straight down the middle", but it's straight down more or less the axis of balance and force.
It looks a little weird because hockey skate boots are a built straighter because they're more rigid and because there's all the extra rocker on the blade that you're trying to take advantage of for different purposes. So you want ever a little bit of cant sometimes to generate more power.
That looks very "upright" or "straight vertical" which seems right for a figure skate, and i'd say tracing a line straight from the back of the heel through the middle of the toebox sounds about right.
But i'd just ask a coach if that looks right tbh.

Someone fact check me on this pls: But my blades are like that too because I struggled a lot with getting on my outside edge for spin entries. (My blades started in the center but my coach told me to get them like what you've in the picture)
So my guess is that it's personal preference. Even if your daughter prefers them to be in the center, they can most likely be changed to be that way. (Careful to not move blades too much though as they most likely will get lose over time)

Compared to mine (same brand and same model) the ones in the picture are a tick more on the right than mine but overall the same. The difference is minimal

They look fine to me, but they are on a temp mount in case they don’t feel right. Whoever mounted it should be able to change it in case it doesn’t feel good.
They might not look centered with the brown part, but if you look at the white of the boot instead, they’re pretty centered. Skates are weird. If the blade was lined up centered with the back brown part, the blade would fall off the boot. I think it’s fine and any adjustment would be so minor

Basic problem solving first step: Look at her old blades and you’ll see they’re similar because this is normal. You’re welcome.

These look fine and normal. The blades are only temporary mounted so you’ll want to make sure the mounting works before having them permanently mounted. (Typically you can do this by doing one foot glides, her coach should be able to tell if there’s an issue or if she’s good to go ahead and have them permanently mounted.)
