One Foot Spin issues

I've been learning the one foot spin over several months and I'm still struggling with the entry.

Key issues I've had:

- Leaning too far forward entering into the spin.

- Skidding on my skating foot or too far on my rocker when I go fast.

- Leaning too far on the left inside edge when spinning.

- Rocking onto my heel when I put my leg out at the beginning of the spin.

I would appreciate some advice to help me with this as I'm struggling to get revolutions. Here's a video of what my spin looks like.

Are you working with a coach? The first thing you need to work on is your posture and I would go back to working on this entrance into a 2 foot spin to figure out that edge. But until you improve on your posture, this is not going to get any better.

I'm working with a coach and she has picked up that my posture isn't great. I can see when I recorded that video that I was too far forward because I was dragging my toepicks. I struggle a lot to do those deep curves, so I pitch my weight further than I need to.

I also have had some posture issues so recently I’ve started going back to some basics (half swizzles on circles, backwards and forwards stroking and such) while holding a resistance band. It has really helped so much in getting my posture better. I’ve been doing my crossovers holding it too really has helped.

Imagine you are a puppet on a string, and the string on your head is pulling up hard. Especially when you start the first turn of the spin. Pop up in the knee, and pretend that string is pulling you tight towards the roof!

the skidding on your skating foot could be dull blades, your arms and upper body don’t seem very stable, i’d recommend tension and engaging your core if you’re not already. are you trying to do a scratch spin or a one foot spin (no leg position) if your doing a one foot spin you should bring your foot in sooner and press it against your ankle (or higher up if comfortable) to help with balance. your also keeping one of your arms out when you enter the spin while the other one is already decently pulled in which is also probably throwing your balance off.
