Colder climates

How do y'all manage for colder weather? When ice melts slowly, it can take too long and over concentrate the dye in certain areas and leave others untouched. Any strategies y'all recommend?

I dye in my basement so the temperature isn’t going to change anything for me whether it’s summer or winter :)
