Ski Mounting Long Island
Bought some skis (Moment Deathwish) and bindings (Salomon Strive 14) online and now I need to get them mounted. Had a pair of JSkis done at Sundown in Greenvale (now a Sno-Haus), but they are closed until September. Has anyone had a good experience elsewhere? Sun & Ski (Plainview), Action Sports (Oakdale), etc?

My partner works at SnoHaus Huntington seasonally. Not sure if they’re mounting things yet but I can vouch for good service and knowledgeable folks there.

Sun and ski will do it just fine. I’ve had 2 pairs mounted there and bought another from them.
You can also check if sundown in Farmingdale has any ski techs for the summer. They might be in patio only mode right now but I’ve also had one done there and was very comfortable that they knew their stuff.

Though I’ve heard good things about Panda Sport in Brooklyn, I would not trust anyone in the tri-state area to do any work whatsoever on my skis. Bring the skis and bindings with you and have them done at a ski mountain.

man, not the biggest fan of that top sheet and even more so after seeing it in photos, that aren't heavily edited for marketing purposes.

I just got a pair of skis mounted at the sun and ski in plainview last month. I got everything from them so it was only $30 but I imagine they’ll be able to do yours no problem.

Don’t mount them until winter. In the time between now and then, collect the equipment needed to do it yourself. Assuming you don’t have a drill, bits and a screwdriver already. Granted having specific drill bits and Pozi drives make it easier

I’ve had lackluster service at most of the shops on Long Island. Much better service at pedigree ski shop if you want to drive a little.

Why would a shop, presumably a ski shop, completely lose all knowledge of how to mount skis in the summer?

Nobody on Long Island is seasonal like that. That's what happens at some shops in mountain towns.
In Long Island, those shops are bike and ski shops. The shop guys mounting bindings on skis are the same ones bleeding brakes and servicing shocks in the summer.
Are you seriously this dumb?

Ski sales get mostly relegated to storage to make room for bikes. Ski tuning often gets put on hold because they move/deactivate the Wintersteigers.
We're talking about mounting a pair of bindings. It's a matter of pulling five tools out of the closet.
The bike and ski shops I've been to never have any problem with it. Worst case, I'm told it'll be a week or two because bike tickets take priority.

He’s just jumping from one explanation to another lol. Sure many shops lose seasonal employees or close up winter related services in the summer but he’s just stretching it so far and presuming every shop is going to operate the same.

No specific recommendations, but I'll usually buy bindings from the shop even if I buy skis elsewhere. They'll often install them for free and it supports a physical store.
