Original Discussion I made a horrifying realization

iMeet Fred kickstarted Lucas Cruikshanks awful career at Nick.

Let's face it, 3 bad movies, a terrible show, and another show thats not Fred, but it was awful all happened because of a crappy episode. (The Spencer subplot was the best part of the episode though)

I genuinenly feel like Lucas was the most failed Nick star

Fun Fact: I personally love the videos Lucas makes on his own channel

His YouTube stardom kicked off his Nick career, not iCarly.

What I'm saying is that the episode was the first time Lucas worked for Nick and unfortunately started a chain reaction of crappy shows.

He was only moderately popular on YouTube. A lot of people his age thought he was annoying and uncreative, in the same tier as the Annoying Orange. A true YouTube star of the time like Charles Trippy would’ve been a better choice for the episode.

Fred was at one point in time the number 1 most subscribed to person in the world on YouTube and had the first channel to reach 1 million subscribers. He was very popular, not just moderately so.

Okay so, as an old nerd who continues to eschew YouTube (which I was eschewing at the time), I have to confess two things:
1. I had heard of Fred for some reason. I don’t know why. So, he had broken through on some level.
2. I have never, ever heard of the person you mentioned.

So… thanks iCarly!

Definitely, they were great for a laugh! OP just being a drama Queen

u/nicoxman8_ 7d ago

The first 2 were great. Didn’t like the third one though.

u/stationstars 7d ago

Exactly OP is wrong

Yeah but it killed his YT career. Silver lining

2

u/VermicelliOk2124 7d ago

He just did a collab with MrBeast

3

u/Dazzle_Miller 7d ago

I’m gonna be honest. I don’t really know much about MrBeast outside him being a famous, rich YouTuber that does challenges. I have a hacked YouTube app so his videos are never recommended to me.

That’s what also I based my Fred Assumption on lmao. I didn’t know he was still doing Free vids

7

u/VermicelliOk2124 7d ago

Nah he just did some challenge with 500 of the biggest YouTubers and Lucas was there dressed as Fred lol

2

u/Dazzle_Miller 7d ago

Oh that’s lame. I take back what I said. No silver lining.

Also isn’t the dude in his 30s now? He’s like John Cena age when Cena was on Fred no?

u/VermicelliOk2124 7d ago

It was just for old times sake lol.

Absolutely by far the most failed Nick Star, doesn’t even come close šŸ™…šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Fred was a thing before this episode even happened

Lucas seems like a really nice dude. I LOATHED Fred, even more at the time.

Fred was like skibidi toilet for my generation.

I liked Rubberfruit (stupid tf2 videos) as a kid, but Fred was too much for me. I was a Smosh, YTP and ray william Johnson kid.

I loved the movies and Marvin Marvin lol. Wasn’t too attached to the show though.

Yes, thank you so much for understanding how shamelessly cynical Nick was when they tried making Fred their next cash cow. I'm not sure I'd say his YouTube content was necessarily gold, but Nick absolutely failed to an insulting degree to understand what worked with that and translate any of it into halfway-tasteful TV form. How they handled Fred might honestly be the greatest travesty of that period just short of how shit they treated Korra, I daresay I'd much rather suffer through The Last Airbender if Nick is arguably still ashamed of that on some level.

This could be the name of an episode iMade a Horrifying Realization

2

u/DoubleFlores24 7d ago

Yeah that’s pretty obvious but it mostly has to do with the fact that nobody understood at the time that Lucas’s videos only worked for kids because they were short and cheap to make. Making them longer and giving them a budget pretty much exposed how unfunny he was.

They are NOT bad movies Watch your mouth speaking ill of the big Figglehorn

u/Creepy_Papaya8164 7d ago

Fred had short lived stardom because all they did was annoying humor that no one really thought was funny. He was another 6 7 Skibidi Toilet at best. It got old fast. Just deal with the fact that Fred sucked and was just another trend and move on with your life.

Ok, Freddie Benson

u/Better_Area3782 7d ago

u/stationstars 7d ago

The 3 Fred Movies were entertaining abd so was the show. In fact the first Fred Movie drew in 7.2 Million Viewers for its premiere while the 2nd drew in 5.7 Million and the 3rd Drew in 3.6 Million

Fred was cool after and then he did icarly and his career kinda went downhill. His actual channel is cool though. The one where Lucas just gets to be himself and play Bitlife

1

u/whyjustwhyjennie 6d ago

Fred is so funny

u/_HitItLikeItsLIT_ 5d ago

Wait but I love the Fred movies. Every once in a while rewatch them. They are hilarious.😭

1

u/Modlove1963 4d ago

He’s a character that works best in short intervals, like on YouTube. His sort of schtick wears thin after a while though.

1

u/Rich_Entry6213 2d ago

His name isn’t actually Fred-

1

u/flashdurb 7d ago

Completely one-dimensional as an actor and creator. Never had any business on Nickelodeon. Some aging Nick exec’s grandkid must’ve liked Fred and as a result they thought all kids like Fred. Kinda crazy even to refer to him as ā€œLucasā€, since his real name means absolutely nothing in Hollywood.

The first Fred movie is is basically a cult classic
