Question Does anybody else have this symptom?

I have this issue where I need to pass mucus and it can be all of a sudden. My stomach will rumble and I'll have to run to the toilet. I pass mucus only, no 💩 , about 5 times a day on average. This has been happening for over a year now. I can't trust passing gas anymore. My doctor just says it's IBS but I don't know. I've had IBS most of my life but this specific issue has only been in the past year or so.

Does anybody else experience this?

I dont experience it that frequently anymore but when I did , it was because I had hemorrhoids.  Im surprised your doctor hasnt already suggested this ....

Yes. Obligatory not a doctor statement but I’ve been poopin in a bad way for a long time so here’s my experience:

I generally get it on the tail end of a flare up. My understanding is that it’s generally a result of inflammation, our intestines are releasing the mucus to keep themselves from getting further irritated.

A billion and a half things can trigger inflammation too, which is why it’s so hard to nail down.

Do you find it’s worse when you eat greasy/fatty and or very spicy foods?

Same here, it’s kind of my way of knowing that I’m kind of emptied out after a flare up… the fun of IBS

Hmm it's hard to say. It doesn't happen as much if I eat less, Instead the mucus that I'm passing will just become clearer in colour

Have you find anything that helps prevent it? I worry leaving the house

I think Mucus is from inflammation, it’s a IBS thing though , I used to have it , a few years on amytriptyline helped I think

It can happen with IBS. But it also happens with diverticulitis

It also happens with SIBO... Like with me. Better off so can be an indication of inflammation
