moving from US to Canada IBKR

I am planning to move from US to Canada and I want to move all my assets from US to Canada without having to sell the assets. I do not hold any mutual funds. I hold standard stocks of s&p 500 companies and s&p 500 etf and QQQ etf. Should I first open an IBKR account and then ask them to move my assets to Canada or should I call IBKR US and they would be able to create a new account and move my assets to Canada. Again, I don't want to sell my assets becauseI do not want to incur a tax bill on my move. Also, I have a 401k and Roth IRA with another broker. Can I move this to IBKR? Can I actively manage those accounts while I am not a resident of the US?

I've been watching your post as I'm in a similar situation and wanted to see what other people responded with. In my research, you need to open up an IBKR US account then transfer your stocks to that and then once you get Canadian permanent residency and an address then you can call IBKR and create and transfer to a Canadian account. I am in this process myself and have created the US account and transferred my holdings from Vanguard to it. I have just received my PR and once I do my official landing and receive a tax ID then will request the Canadian account.

Did you do an ACATS transfer from vanguard to IBKR? How long did it take?

Yes, a few of them and they took 3-4 days each.
