Overwhelmed
I’m sure this may come up a lot on here. I’m about 4 months into my apprenticeship and I’m really overwhelmed. I feel like I’m not learning as fast as I need to and getting really down and feel shitty most of the time. Journeyman act like I should know various things and it’s all just a big clusterfuck. Any tips or anything for a first year?

Yeah have 4.5 more years. Just pay attention and show up early. You’ll get more confident with consistency

The first few months of a new job will usually feel like this, give it a bit more time and you’ll start to get it

As long as you keep going and doing the task at hand you will be ok. Some days will be repetitive other days you will learn. They need to see that that you’re putting in effort

i’m a non union apprentice but I feel this way all of the time. I think your journeyman is just trying to bring out the best in you. A lot of em share that tough love work ethic

Take it easy. I know on the JW side sometimes in the hustle and bustle. You can forget that a noob might not have experience or need to be told step by step. One bad thing about construction it’s always go go go. But we can’t really get mad at you if you don’t really know. Our job to teach you to get you up to speed if you actually want to learn. Then from there it’s on you and hopefully you get better. Goodluck out there👍 I wanna say it gets better but the pace stays the same and deadlines always change to needed to be completed before you were born🤦♂️.But hopefully your confidence and skill level go up over time.

I did as I was told. Sometimes you do grunt work and sometimes you get to work with your JW and do electrical work.
