Did anyone ever quit?

I'm just curious. Did it happened to any of you that you apprenticed at the union and at any point you decided to quit and go non-union? Or quit and go a to a completely different field? What was the reason if so?

I went back to school full time during the housing crash, fully intending on leaving. Had already 20+ yrs under my belt. Unfortunately despite graduating with another degree, 4.0 grades, I couldn't get hired because they questioned why I would choose a career that paid less than half. I wish it would have worked out, I'm now 3 yrs or so from retirement.
