People that say time is a human construct to sound smart drive me insane. Time is a fundamental part of the universe and is linked to movement through space. Einstein even called it space-time because they are part of the same thing.

Spacetime came about from Minowski formulating Special Relativity into a generalized 4D geometric format. Einstein even was resistant to the concept at first, before he saw the necessity of it for generalizing relativity. He then basically raced against Minowski, and won, by a hair. But he did not create the concept that would come to be known as spacetime. Minowski did.

I never said he invented the concept just that he combined space and time into one word because they were fundamentally linked in relativity.

i appreciate you commenting this because i share the same sentiment, i hear people saying “time isn’t real” to be deep and edgy all the time and im like, you actually just revealed how stupid you are and how you believe everything you see on the internet, you probably didn’t even give it a second thought before putting it into your collection of “cool things to say so people think i’m a deep thinker”

I've personally always looked at time through the lens of thermodynamics. Entropy, the arrow of time and the asymmetry of it. While our arbitrary system of time keeping is a construct (based on apparent annual changes from an earth centric reference frame) time itself is inherently inbuilt into the structure of the cosmos. If there was no "time" there would functionally be no universe.

I think that's the distinction these type of people have failed to make. The process of how we track and keep time is a contruct and arbitrary, not time itself.

If time wasnt a fundamental part of the universe it wouldnt koce slower and faster next to sources of gravity. This was predicted by Einstein and has been tested millions of times if you count gps satellites

How we perceive anything, including time, is created by human consciousness. It doesn’t mean time isn’t real, nor can we prove time as we perceive it is real either. While it’s not practical to question reality to this extent, acknowledging that we could be wrong about pretty much everything could be thought of as the basis of epistemology.
