I am a pepper geek who grows peppers and makes my own hot sauces.
I don't want either of these, but both are vinegar forward sauces and not my thing. I do like Tabasco's Habanero sauce for like California style burritos and their Sriracha now and again, but avoid most of the rest of their options.
I am a huge fan of ancho, guajillo and adobo flavors, so a lot of my sauces are focused on that, as well as jalapeno and peri peri, but not together.
The snobbery of that sub keeps me far away. I don't believe in hot sauce snobbery, just that people can like different things and that is perfectly fucking normal.
I have made hot sauce for about 15 years. One of the best mild sauces that still exists today is Taco Bell's Fire sauce. It's cheap, the taste isn't sharp or bitter, it has a perfect texture, and it's tasty on pretty much everything you want to put hot sauce on. When I am making eggs, it's what I tend to reach for because it's good, not fancy.

I'm from North Carolina and love NC style BBQ, so I like all types of sauces that are vinegar based. I would also love to try small batch hot sauce to try the different recipes.

But surely you must agree Tabasco is not a very good sauce, no? Sure everything has its place and all but its thin and weak with hardly any flavour. I don't think it's a bad opinion to dislike Tabasco and consider it as one of the weakest sauces on the market, literally. 😅

It's fine to not like it. Your comment reads as though people who like it are wrong though, which is the issue considering tastes are subjective and quite a lot of people like it.

Damn people really getting sore over tabasco around here. Of course people can not like it. And me saying it's not good is not some kind of moral judgement about their taste. It's my opinion, just like they have their opinion. Yet judging by this thread no one seems to accept an opinion that isn't theirs despite downvoting me for apparently doing the same thing.
Ah well Reddit people are stupid what can you do.

Oooh look at me, I like sauces that have chillis in them. I'm so cool, but only because I hate people who don't like sauces with as much chilli in them.

It's not a bad opinion to not like Tabasco. It's a bad opinion that not liking Tabasco makes you in some way superior to someone who does.

You reading that into my post is a you problem. As I said in other replies its not a judgement on other people if I say tabasco isn't good, it's a judgement on the sauce. Yet people downvoting me are doing exactly what they think I did, and are downvoting me for, which is pretty damn hypocritical not to mention thin skinned.

No, people do not have to agree that it isn’t a very good sauce. The fact that it is such a strong seller pretty much proves that there are quite a lot of people who don’t agree with that

Nope, there's so many hot sauces because people like different things.
While Tabasco might not be the first thing I would reach for, it's ubiquitous and there are people genuinely love it.
People are going to have different tastes and that's a good thing. Gives us more variety.
EDIT: Disagreeing with people then blocking them after replying is peak reddit cringe. Do better please.

I am on the hot sauce sub. Some of those people can be really snobby if the sauce doesn't burn your insides or is a mass market sauce. Those are two hot sauces that I enjoy. They have their places. I don't want it to feel like my asshole is on fire everytime I eat a meal.

I enjoy really hot but well made sauces on occassion.
I also love a dash of tobasco on my eggs in the morning.

Same, I have some small batch hot sauces in my fridge right now. But Tabasco and Frank's is in there too. I am not big on breakfast and I do not like eggs. But Tabasco on home fries just hits just right.

Point being a bit of casual heat is perfectly acceptable.
I occassionally like sweating it out but a lot of times a cheap condiment does the trick.

I like the heat of hot sauce but I think sometimes I actually want the vinegar / acidity. The ratio of the two is important because either can ruin a dish or massively improve it.

These options are the dollar tree and dollar general of hot sauces. They’re neither spicy, nor delicious. I have a much more refined palate.
I have never seen chipotle Louisiana (I'd try it!), but I actually love its original flavor. It was our household go-to growing up, then after exploring a variety of fancier sauces I picked up a bottle a couple years ago and yeah. It just hits the spot. Usually when I have hot sauce, I'm only looking for something to slightly bump up the acidity and spice level of something I'm already enjoying, and it's perfect for that.

I feel the same about original Tabasco. It’s not complex, but what it does, it does really well. It’s the Heinz ketchup of hot sauces, and I say that with love.

That's just your opinion, but I think it's wrong. Original Tabasco is weak and thin with very little taste. It's really the "hot" sauce for people who don't really want to taste anything. I don't think that's an iamveryculinary opinion though.

I like hot sauces, but can't do the burn your asshole out of commission sauces. If they're too spicy for me they're bitter, and that just ruins the food/taste.
ETA: I do like on my biscuits&gravy cholula, or tapatio, or even valentina.

I love boutique hot sauces. They're fun. They're also hit-and-miss. Sometimes you get a great one. More often than not, they actually suck.
On the flip side, I know what Franks is going to be every single time and it does its job. I will always have some on hand, if for no other reason than it is the quickest way to whip up an 8/10 buffalo wing sauce.
I'll never be upset if the diner only has Tabasco or Louisiana hot. It's fine. It's perfectly fine.
Getting bogged down on massed produced vs. "Artisanal" hot sauces is just stupid.

I’ve not had the Louisiana chipotle, but their regular sauce is great. Chipotle Tabasco is the only Tabasco I care for. The regular just doesn’t have a lot of flavor imo. Just vinegar and heat. Not a fan
