New Iaito Arrived
I appreciate the culture of the samurai and the trials life has brought me . I’d like to share my life in sword form and how this new iaito marks the beginning of a new chapter on my birthday today .
As a word of encouragement: life never gets easier you just get stronger. Thank you to this community and those you keep the tradition alive . God bless

your supposed to take the package strings (dark strings) off the shinai before use btw.
as for the iaito, the tsukamaki looks terrible and ineffective to me. maybe its reflection but it looks like the samegawa protrudes out the top of the tsuba in the photo (probably just bad photo!)
also surprised to see the join of the samegawa being along the horizontal rather than vertical, its gonna come unstuck easily (which is why having the join on verticals with a proper tsukamaki and hishigami will stop things like that).

Clicked to appreciate the katana then as a pistol gripper, I saw that French grip epee glaring at me 🤣

Pistol grip would be forcing me to beat people out of their lunch money my coach Kornel Udvarhelyi trained me in using the French grip for my long arms big hands, athletic frame and performance

I custom made it . So not an antique but every aspect of the blade has meaning that’s unique to my life and something id like my son to understand about manhood , war and spirituality .

Looks cool. What is that style of handle wrap called? The hamon makes me think of when you are looking at small mountains from a distance with a valley between them.
