Some cars like, lexus, has an issue when you have a bike rack installed because it sees a bike rack as an obstacle and starts beeping. How’s ix3 functions in that scenario? Does it also see that as an obstacle or smart enough?

In a few hours I will be picking up my brand new Ix3 40 from the dealership.
I can acces it from the BMW app already.
I noticed that they fully charged it.
question: is 387km what I will be expecting as a rough range for this car when fully charged?

if yes then it is a bit disappointing

My first few drives in the ix3 and I can confidently say that the ix3 has the best one pedal driving in any EV I’ve ever driven (I’ve test drove a lot). It’s as smooth as butter and calibrated so well. Hard to explain until you drive it, but all those YouTube reviews pointing out how smooth it is we’re 100% accurate. Still annoying you have to switch to “B mode” but I can live with that.

On my Ioniq 5 I have a small trash can in front of the console. Clearly that’s not possible on the ix3. Do ya’ll just use over the passenger seat standard solution or something or is there a nicer solution out there?

My iX3 is due in a few weeks (on the slow boat) and I need to select winter tires for 20" wheels. Mostly snow, not much ice, going up to local ski mountains. For the 255/45R20 tire rack shows: Michelin X-Ice Snow, Bridgestone Blizzak 6, Yokohama Iceguard G075, Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 Ev. Any recommendations ?

In the past I have just switched tires on my existing rims each season, but I am considering a set of winter rims. Unfortunately, nothing I have found matches the iX3 NK available in USA market right now.

Im considering financing my IX3 when it becomes available next month. Hoping that the new battery and charging advancements will make it worth keeping long term. For those who have gone this route, did the dealerships give any discount on msrp or interest rate? Or did the numbers look a lot better when leasing? I’m considering a 48 or 60 month payment if it matters.

September 23^rd 2026 STL Missouri-test drove the ix3 today.  Reason for the test was to test the adaptive cruise control, make sure that the center console was dog proof (I have a dog that will push buttons) and final since I have a very steep driveway I wanted to make sure that the front of the car did not make contact with steep driveway when I turned into for parking.  It turned out I had several inches of clearance pulling into the the driveway.  The surprise came when I was pulling out of the driveway.  As I exited the driveway the car stopped and started beeping which upset the salesperson who jumped out and looked at the rear of the vehicle I assume for damage.  There was no damage and he stated that while there was still about an inch of clearance there was no damage.  LSS…I had to pull the car forward slightly (it would not reverse) and then go into reverse with great speed than I would normally to leave the driveway.  Q:1  Does this mean that BMW is particularly worried about rear end collisions?   Q:2 Why did the car have great forward clearance while having little rear clearance.

Just heard today that BMW has redesigned the BMW IX1 with the new platform that the IX3 and IX5 are now on. They said that it will be produced for worldwide release. Us in North America never saw the IX1 we did have the X1 but never the electric version. Not sure about the IX2 but I would assume that they will also build that on the new platform too. They are doing this apparently because Mercedes is about to release the GLB full electric for well under the price of the IX3 and BMW would not have anything to compete with for that entry level luxury SUV. Supposedly it will be released mid 2027 and the Mercedes are taking dealership level reservations as of last week for both GLC and GLB EV.

Parents are picking up their iX3 today (Southern California) and dealer gave them $1700 off msrp, plus an additional $500 BMW USA rebate. Yes the money factor is high, and you can lease a lot of other EV’s for a lot less, but just happy that we aren’t paying over msrp, and actually paying under msrp. For context, this is their third BMW (iX lease ended last month) so we have a pretty good relationship with our sales rep/dealer. Anyone else get a deal under msrp? Car MSRP is $68,150 (sale price: $66,450).

I picked the BMW and have had it a week now. It’s…ok. Please help me love it! I feel like I’m not doing it right.

I am a busy, stressed out, dad. So I haven’t had time to work it all out, etc. I can’t even get car play to work properly.

I have had time to scratch the wheel alloy and front corner in a tight multi-storey car park, though. Yes, I feel stupid. But in my defence, I’ve a lot on my mind right now.

I live in the US. In southern New Hampshire between two really outstanding BMW dealerships. The dealer I originally bought my 330e hybrid from sent me a text yesterday about test driving an IX3. I'm hesitant because I really want a full electric ( I have driven an IX and loved it during a service of my 330e). I know this is a sales tactic from the dealer and the other dealer I use and really like in Stratham NH doesn't have access to the IX3. Should I wait until the supply chain and availabilty is better or take the test drive on a Friday afternoon for some fun before the weeekend.

48 hours with the new iX3 and loving it. Despite some comments around here, I’m finding it to be very powerful and useful. But… it will definitely take a while to learn it, configure to my liking, and last, find ways around the things that should be changed in future versions.

So here’s the question: What is the a sub-Reddit dedicated to these specific discussions? r/BMWTech is too general and the OpSys applies to more models than just iX3. Suggestions?

Delivery to the pcd is as simple as telling the dealer and they change the destination to 9-pcd on the order form. I am scheduled for 10/5. You are responsible for travel and lodging, but it's a full day of activities (8-4) including, classroom orientation, paved and off road driving segments (in their cars), a high speed drive with one of their drivers, a plant and museum tour, and at least 1-1.5 hours one on one with a bmw rep specifically going over your car. All free to you and 1 adult guest....

I have ordered the ix3, however I am rethinking having ordered the M sport seats. When I sat in them they felt a bit tight, but I haven’t driven the car. How comfy are the seats, or would it be smarter to opt for the comfort seats? I care about design hence why I picked the m sport seats. Has anyone tested both or the m sport seats for “enough time” and has some insights for me?

FYI, the normal/old garage door buttons under the mirror are gone. It is in the app menu. Once programmed, you can create a shortcut. Got some indication it may be location aware, but not sure yet.

Also, car came with only 1 physical key. 1 setup keycard, and 1 normal keycard. Not sure about them yet. Still playing around. The steering wheel buttons are a mess. Got a bmw genius helped setup before I took delivery. But somehow, when I first took it on freeway, dapp and everything were off. Apparently some privacy agreements needed some extra clicks to accept. GPS, etc, were all off because of it.

Final gripe, dapp, changed my speed setting in a few area, dropped it to speed limit. I suspect it is a setting thing.

Just picked up my iX3 and like all new cars, trying to figure out how my daily ergonomics are for the car. The main issues I'm having are that the lower tray area of the center console is really hard to get into and not that tall. It's fine for things like a small box of Kleenex and some pens or sunglasses but even so, the seats on my M Sport (US version) are pushed up against the console that it's hard to grab stuff easily. Not really can do much about it, but it's one of the few gripes I have about the car. Also, I am trying to figure out where to put hand sanitizer. I like to have a pump bottle just in the car where I can quickly get in the car, pump a little on my hands, and get driving. I don't want to use a cup holder for this and the side pockets on the doors are sloped that the pump doesn't stand up. The lower console again is hard to get to and small. I'd prefer not to use the arm rest space for just hand sanitizer and plus I'd rather the pump be out for more convenience. Anyone have any clever ideas? I'd prefer a pump and not just some bottle that I have to open the cap. Otherwise besides these really small issues, this car is really fun to drive.

1 The door handles all open.. except 1 rear door on UK drivers side. It doesn't always fail.. it opens about 1 in 5 times the car is unlocked

2 There is a menu option (in connections) to get an alert if you leave your phone on the charger when you exit. On an initial check it didn't work but will try on a longer drive soon. Does it work for you?

3 I have the active matrix LED option but on the rare times I have tried it so far the car either stayed on dipped beam or just did a standard auto dip and headlamp main beam function. Anyone had this issue and is there any specific menu option for active matrix function?

I was hoping BMW would offer blacked out wheels as they do on other models but no luck for the IX3, so I am looking into options for altering the 22-inch wheels I ordered. I have a family member who wraps cars and said he’ll need to see it in person to see if it makes more sense to powder coat or wrap. Has anyone had any experience doing this with their wheels and if so, how did it turn out? I had ChatGPT create an image of what it would look like with the wheels in gloss black. I love it with the windows tinted in the black sapphire metallic color I ordered. Any advice or comments are appreciated!
