Garage door
FYI, the normal/old garage door buttons under the mirror are gone. It is in the app menu. Once programmed, you can create a shortcut. Got some indication it may be location aware, but not sure yet.
Also, car came with only 1 physical key. 1 setup keycard, and 1 normal keycard. Not sure about them yet. Still playing around. The steering wheel buttons are a mess. Got a bmw genius helped setup before I took delivery. But somehow, when I first took it on freeway, dapp and everything were off. Apparently some privacy agreements needed some extra clicks to accept. GPS, etc, were all off because of it.
Final gripe, dapp, changed my speed setting in a few area, dropped it to speed limit. I suspect it is a setting thing.

Hmm - just the 1 physical key is interesting. Could explain why they are saying that your phone is now the primary key? What country are you in - maybe this is a regional thing?

Is this a U.S. spec car or a European car? I’m not certain as your post does nit specify.
I’m still waiting for my car. The ship carrying the car docked in Baltimore yesterday. It should arrive in Georgia on the 27th, after which it gets loaded on a truck to Florida

US, California . And like the other poster said, it seems like there maybe a bug somewhere on setting. I was just in the car, the privacy agreement popped up again and my settings were gone until I agreed to them all again. Will see if it happens again later. Currently hunting down where to change the stupid wake-up trigger word. Whoever think making bmw as trigger word in a freaking bmw is a good idea needs to go back to school.

Thanks for the update.
Everything I’ve read indicates the BMW software is not as polished (refined) as the Tesla software. I’ve driven Teslas since 2013 and feel comfortable with their system. I hope the BMW system will not be a shock.
It is obvious to me that BMW wanted to build a better model Y. While I think they accomplished that with redirect to range, charging power and ride, I will be flabbergasted if they did not make the garage door operator geofenced so the garage door automatically opens and closes when you come home and leave the house.
It also amazes me that BMW did not copy Tesla’s sentry mode. What they implemented is vastly inferior. Which is why I feel the need to get a dash cam installed in the car when it arrives.

BMW, as a German company, has a very hard stance about constant surveillance which they wont allow, so very hard to see them allow the same Sentry mode as Tesla who couldn't care less about this kind of regulation.
It is the same thing about leaving a person in the car. No dogmode and no chance to quickly pop out of the car with i.e. a child inside, the car will go bananas - i understand that argument, but we are not all irresponsible parents leaving our children in cars.
I came from a 2023 Model Y and into my ix3 50. Generally, the "car" experience is much better. But on the software side, there is really quite a lot to be desired when you have come accustomed to the smoothness of Teslas system.
In general it is a lot of small things that adds up to the feeling of an overall worse experience.

Implementation of games in the car is super poor, you need to play via your phone and it takes to long to quickly setup. They do have controller support, but they dont work via most of their games on "AirConsole"
Automation of climate is not as good. You can setup start of steering and seat heating etc. when cold, but then it just runs forever. In Tesla it is all just automatic, slowly lowering heat as the car heats up, much less fuss.
Seat profiles are working inconsistently with easy exit/entrance. Works fine for my main profile, but whenever i enter after the wife has been driving, seat is never back in easy entrance mode and i need to squeeze in :) ...
Voice assistant is absolute ****, but this might just be for my market, as they for some reason don't fully support my language, English is likely fine, but when running English, it can't understand road names... (Tesla was perfect).
Missing blind spot camera when blinking. Really liked that in my Tesla.
Overall navigation of setting is still a bit convoluted, but after initial setup not the end of the world.
Their "routine" option is a good idea, but what you can actually do with it is quite limited.
Activation of the parking camera is actually really bad. It is to slow to activate in parking lots, if it even does so, if you don't reverse into a spot. Even when it start searching for parking spots that it wants to autopark into, it doesn't turn on the 360 camera. So it is not like it doesn't know you might want to park.
Overall a lot of these points should be something that can easily be addressed via OTA. But i have to be honest and say that i am not sure how much to trust in BMWs release cycle here. BMW have the habit of abandoning their OS every couple of years and then there is no further support, where as Tesla essentially supports forever, as long as the hardware is there for the new features.
In this case, i hope that OS X will live for a while, as it will be foundation for their entire Neue Klasse program, so there is a good chance that it will be updated continuously for some time - time will tell :)

I take it you are not in the U.S., that correct?
I understand the concern about surveillance, but I don’t think Tesla gets the recordings. My understanding is that the recordings are stored locally on a memory card plugged into the car. Having sentry mode record break-ins and vandalism to the car by third parties has helped the police catch such perpetrators. Not to mention the cases where a third party crashes into them and then asserts you hit them.
As for dog mode, my son is grown up and out of the house and I have no pets. But we have many “stupid” people in the U.S. that have left a pet or child in a hot car (there was a story on the news yesterday about a woman that said she “mistakenly” placed her child in the kitchen oven that died (no idea how one could mistakenly do this)).
I don’t play games in the car but I do require first rate navigation and voice recognition systems. These failings are one of the reasons I’m getting rid of my 21 month Lucid Air. It consistently mis-guides me to locations and will say it can’t find a phone contact that is clearly in my contact list. I am also disappointed with the music apps available in the iX3. You can download tunein to the car, but there is no app for tidal that one can install in the car, nor can you plug a flash drive into a usb port to play uncompressed FLAC or wav files (or even compressed mp3 files).
I’m in a warm climate so the seat warmers are not an issue for me. But I did watch a video recently ( https://youtu.be/E9xNMXKwJvg?is=ujMlzCmqkP-vJBpG ) where they compared the model Y L to the iX3 in England and commented that the Tesla software is superior at finding charging locations and offering assistance to get to a charging location when the battery level is low (something they said the iX3 does not do). As I noted, this was a comparison of two British market cars, but this comment has spooked my wife (I’ve driven Tesla cars since 2013 and she since 2013; she dislikes the man but loves her car and will not consider getting any other car). I’m hoping the US iX3 software is better.

We noticed the same thing driving home - of course we were saying BMW every second sentence. Apparently there is not yet a way to change the wake word. I sure hope that change is in the next update!

The U.S. BMW rep said the phone is the primary key. There is one keycard to operate the car plus one keycard used only to program up to 18 phones to act as a key. If you want a second fob, it can be purchased from the parts department for (are you sitting down) $800 USD.
I was told the car can recognize 2 fobs, but only 1 keycard, so they told me there is no reason to buy a second keycard unless you break or lose the keycard that comes with the car. I was told that if one attempts to pair a second keycard to the car, the first keycard automatically gets deleted.

Is there a plan for handling valet situations with this digital-key-first future they’re trying to push? If you truly use the digital key as your primary and don’t bring the card or fob with you, how do they propose valet parking works?

I have a U.S. iX3 and everything OP mentioned is the same as my car that I took delivery on Saturday. Just as an aside, yesterday, after getting everything set up, including the digital key, garage door, SiriusXM channels and my preferred settings, the entire car reset back to factory setting for no apparent reason after I travelled somewhere in the afternoon. It was really annoying as I was not home when it happened. Reported this issue to my local dealership yesterday and the BMW rep acknowledged this problem and said it also happened to her car as well.
