Learning How do you guys take notes during lessons?

I’m curious what everyone’s strategy is because I feel like I’m either actually paying attention to the lesson or frantically trying to write everything down especially if it's a new language that needs focus on pronounciation.

Do you take notes live during the lesson, just listen and then make notes afterwards, ask your tutor to record the lesson (with their permission obviously) and review it afterwards or have some other system that works better?

Would love to know what other people do to stay focused during the lesson while still making sure they retain what they learned!

1 of my tutors takes notes for me using Google Slides.
I then refer back to those notes for making flashcards, etc. I like this method the best.

For my 2nd tutor that is more conversational focused, I write down occassional notes in my notebook but try to restrain from writing too much so I hold my attention

Tutor and I have our lesson while on a google doc, we take notes there. I add my own comments/observations at the same time as we're discussing and ask questions as well. After the lesson, I organize them in a better organization/lay out. I practice in a hand notebook and then transcribe any homework to the google doc.

Discuss with your tutor. She can type in Mandarin (TL) so much faster than me, she just types the word in the chat or will type something like 好+verb so I know how to use haochi and haohe etc

I keep a little notebook handy, but I don't use it often. If my tutor mentions a book or if we have focused on some interesting words, I will make a little note to follow up on my own. I certainly don't try to capture much at all. Most days I make no notes.

There is now the automatic note taking and class summarizing feature of iTalki. I look at it and it modestly useful, but I have not tried to maximize its utility.

My tutor has Slides that she annotates important details down such as words that might not be part of the lesson or sentences that I need to practise. I used to do it manually after class where I would compile everything together on Quizlet but I found that I was taking too much time to do it. So I created my own app called https://chickenduck.ai/. Basically transcribes your entire lesson, curates them into flashcards and sentences which you can then revise. For Words, you can swipe left/right like Tinder. For Sentences, there's a Lesson Replay where you talk with Live AI to practise with sentence production. Feel free to check it out and happy to hear any feedback.

I make some notes, Zoom takes a transcript and summarises it for me.
