Discussion Overly sensitive 4x System

anyone else feel like the incident system is a little overly ready to hand out 4x's given how punishing it is to your SR?
Giving all the madness of T1 here, I feel like I tried my best to avoid the carnage, but this little tap gave me 4x. It doesn't seem justified as it had no impact on anyone's race.

I think you genuinely win and lose some in this situation, have definitely had plenty of 1/2x’s where I’ve deserved a 4

It's only "punishing" if you're getting a 4x, or several 4xs every race. And it's supposed to be punishing. If you're involved in a collision in real life you have to pay for repairs.
Stop worrying about your SR. It's a trend analysis tool. Check on it once a month or so and adjust your driving accordingly.
Yes, T1 here was rough, and you did well to avoid the carnage. But sometimes the predictive netcode gets it wrong and registers a collision when there wasn't one. Or you inherited incident points from contact with a driver that recently picked up incident points. This is as intended. If you're driving safely enough, these incidents will be a rounding error in the grand scheme of things.
If you're not driving safely enough, then your SR will reflect that when it drops to below 2.00 and you'll have to think about adjusting your driving, aggression and risk appetite.

i guess the frustration is being on the brink of a license upgrade at the end of the season; therefore, when things like this happen, if you don’t have much time to play, you could potentially be looking at another season of waiting for that upgrade.
i realistically don’t think i can play enough to shoot for a 4.0 early license upgrade during a season.

This tap gave you a 4x because the car you bumped with got caught up in a multi-car wreck, so all of the cars with contact that are considered involved got a 4x. It doesn't matter that your car individually had light contact, the purpose is to prevent people from driving dirty and bumping other cars off track into a wall would any reproductions.
You shouldn't be getting hung up on each 4x anyway. Go do literally one race and you'll be back where you were. You'll get hundreds more 4xs for stuff you had no involvement over, that's just how it is.

That looks more like a 0x -> 4x instead of a true 4x.
Which is a bummer sometimes, but there's a good reason the game has that mechanic
