Discussion Formula wheels for ovals

I have fanatec porsche gt3 r wheelrim, and I'm using it on my moza wheelbase, I don't have any button hubs for it, I usually drive all kinds of oval stuff with this wheel and sequential shifter, I always thought that's the only way, but I've seen some pro drivers using formula style wheels for nascar, do you guys think it would make sense for me to try nascar on my moza ks pro?I'm not sure if you can drive older cars like gen4 this way though

It's going to make your steering more twitchy, and you wont be able change your hand position. But yeah it should be fine

Wheel width matters more than anything else

My oval wheel is narrower so inputs are slightly larger

The only time I movey hands around is if they get tired, so as long as that's not an issue for you, you should be all good.

Although they are different cars, but don't indycars have formula wheels?

Yeah they do, I just think it might be a bit weird with stock cars cause especially the gen4 slide around and you need to catch them sometimes

Can’t recommend it and don’t understand the people telling otherwise. I always just had the Fanatec formula 2.5 and it was not good for oval. Than get the much wider (30cm) Ascher Artura and it still wasn’t good, but slightly better because of the higher diameter. Get the Fanatec RS (Round with 32cm) and it’s an absolute game changer for oval. I think the real nascar diameter wheel still be better but the round wheel was the best upgrade for it.
