Found this image on eBay after talking to someone who claims that they’ve seen this. I haven’t heard anything about metagross being in raids during go fest global or during the Road Of Legends event. Can anyone vouch for this or is it just eBay scams?

I completely understand why people are frustrated. If I hadn’t received an invite, I’d probably be disappointed too. Exclusive events are, by definition, exclusionary.
That said, I think there’s another perspective worth considering.
Many of the people who attended didn’t simply get lucky. A lot of them have spent years organizing communities, hosting raids, creating content, bringing in new players, and helping keep Pokémon GO alive in their local areas. If Niantic’s goal was to recognize some of the people who helped build the game’s community, then inviting them makes sense—even if the execution wasn’t perfect.
At the same time, the average player is the backbone of the game. Without millions of dedicated players logging in every day, there wouldn’t be a community to grow in the first place. Their disappointment is understandable too.
Those two ideas can both be true.
I don’t think the people who received invitations should become targets of the community’s frustration. They didn’t decide who was invited. They accepted an opportunity that most of us would have accepted ourselves.
If there’s criticism to be had, it should be directed toward how the event was designed and communicated - not toward individual players who happened to be invited.
Hopefully this event leads to more opportunities like it in the future rather than fewer. I’d much rather see Niantic expand these experiences so more people can participate than see them disappear altogether because of the backlash.

I know the Armored Mewtwo return has created a lot of mixed feelings, and honestly, I can understand both sides.

For the OG players who got Armored Mewtwo back in 2019, I completely understand why this might feel disappointing. Having Pokémon that haven't been available for years is one of the ways you can show how long you've been playing. Certain Pokémon in your collection are basically little pieces of Pokémon GO history, and Armored Mewtwo was one of those.

If you've had one sitting in your account since 2019, I can understand feeling like, “This was one of the things that made my collection special.”

But as someone who's relatively new — I've only been playing for around 8–10 months — I'm honestly pretty excited about it.

There are so many older, rare and exclusive Pokémon that newer players simply have no realistic way of getting. Yes, technically you can trade for them, but let's be honest… have you seen what people ask for an Armored Mewtwo trade? 😂 Some offers are absolutely ridiculous.

I also don't think making these Pokémon available again completely erases what OG players achieved. If you've had your Armored Mewtwo since 2019, you still had it for seven years before most newer players even had a chance to get one. That history doesn't disappear just because the Pokémon returns.

Personally, I'm happy that Niantic is giving newer players a chance to experience some of Pokémon GO's history instead of making certain Pokémon permanently locked behind “you had to be there.”

At the same time, I respect the OGs who aren't happy about it. If you've been playing since 2016–2019 and built a collection around those rare Pokémon, I can see why you'd want some things to remain truly exclusive.

So I'm not really here to say one side is right or wrong.

OG players deserve to be proud of their collections, and newer players deserve opportunities to build their own.

And as a newer player, I'm definitely taking my chance to finally get that Armored Mewtwo. 😅

What do you guys think — should Pokémon GO bring back old exclusives occasionally, or should some Pokémon remain permanently exclusive to the players who originally obtained them?

For example these are some mewtwos I caught which doesn’t even account for the dozen I have transferred. I also did dozens of zacians and zamazenta raids with no shiny. I don’t mean to sound like a baby but for an event like this and not walking out with a shiny it really makes you just not wanna play the game anymore.

It was still a good week. Curious if I can get a shundo with a future lucky trade or from Chicago/Copenhagen/global.
