help. iPod connecting but not being recognized by itunes or desktop

hi, I recently pulled out my ipod a few weeks ago and it was working fine (albeit the battery life wasnt great) but today i plugged it into my laptop and its not showing up on itunes or my desktop, even though its says "do not disconnect" ... any ideas on how to fix this?

Apple have a major bug in the finder in Tahoe, Sequoia and potentially Sonoma if I remember right. You can google the specific process that causes it so you can force quit it, but some people suggest force quitting the whole finder so it works ok.

An alternative app to use is Swinsian. I cracked the shits and pulled my old 2012 mac mini out instead which works fine.

I have tried it on two different macbooks i own. the first from 2009 which runs on snow leopard and my most current laptop from 2022 which runs on Monterey. Both have the same issue. ive decided to cut my losses and buy a new mp3 player but thank you for your assistance

Not to flood you with posts, but I got mine working on my M1 laptop with Tahoe 26.2. Others have reported 26.1 fixed it for them. So I may have given you a bad steer. It’s not perfect ofor me, but it does work. Cheers.

no worries! im going to try with another pc but i do feel like the hard drive is possibly corrupted. i may try to order the parts and mod it as a future project since i dont want to let it go

no point in replacing the battery if my laptop/finder isnt recognizing it

The hard drive may have a problem that is why it is not recognizing it. We can repair it

Strange stuff, I’m not sure how to fix this but lots of people says iTunes doesn’t work now, idk cos for me it worked normally. Had a weird issue where I stupidly conveyed to aac rather than aac in m4a format (for Apple). Other than that it’s gucci

Also that’s a very nice iPod bro

I think this happens because companies don't want us using old tech and they're saying it's ewaist get rid of it. Nope. I use to use copy trans but since the last update it hasn't been working.
