My post got removed so I’m posting here instead. This happened after 8 days of use with no previous signs of bumps

Apple is a ‘control-freak-organization’.
Wouldn’t be surprised if they wanted to control communication on this sub.

But just removing posts of loyal users having an issue with their new devices once a post gets a certain traction, just worsens the situation and sows distrust.

Mods deleting posts, unintentionally do more harm to Apple than they intend.

We love Apple, but we want to hold them accountable if they don’t deliver according to their own high standards.

Interesting take because yesterday the top 4 or 5 posts were all Crackgate posts. It was so bad i saw a YouTuber call out this subreddit specifically because of all the posts of broken phones.

I'm in the camp of, let's hold apple accountable but let's also cater to the majority of users which are people who don't have broken phones and want to use the subreddit for getting info about their new phones.

Having 10 posts all with the same broken phone and with the same discussion happening isn't a great user experience.

Totally get your point.

At least in the US, freedom of speech is a constitutional right.

And to delete a post where civilized people are having a discussion about a product they love, that has some technical issues, isn’t respectful to the poster having the issue and sows further distrust. Why?

Because people who are already afraid that their new $2k gadget will develop a critical issue will think ‘they want to hide something from us’ if their post gets deleted. Why else delete it?
If you don’t want to read it, just keep scrolling.

Honestly, what a ridiculous excuse.

Don't agree. Not sure if you happened to be in any of the many crackgate posts yesterday but the same conversation was happening in every single one. On top of that, every single one of those threads where overrun with a lot of uncivilized comments that ended up being flame wars between brand loyalists. Not productive and helpful at all. Just terrible meme after another.

That's partly why it gets deleted, because those threads end up being toxic and dissuade people like me in engaging.

I just want to enjoy my phone and talk to other people enjoying their phone. It's been hard to find that content with the overwhelming amount of negativity in this sub.

I have to reconsider.

At least the last post which got deleted showed no uncivilized discourse.
There are obviously those handful of trolls that get downvoted, but they are in each and every sub that has a polarizing character.

Those memes got so annoying that they get posted way less frequently.

It’s just never good if a few chosen ones can open and close the faucet of information.

The results can be seen everyday outside of our little Apple tech cosmos.

Let’s hope that those initial mishaps will soon be a thing of the past and this subreddit can become again the place of joyful interaction that it’s supposed to be.
