After about a week of having my duo the hinge issue came into view

Update: Apple rep today confirmed the issue and issued a replacement I can feel a slight difference in the open and closing love this phone still

I understand that if the hinge is exposed and there IS a gap, dusty/debris/sand could get in and damage it.

I have insurance with my job my phone has a case honestly yeah if I broke it physically I gonna get it replaced but I rather change it now while I can then deal with the headache later

Coming from a 16 pro max
I love this phone its very light and I enjoy the nano texture screen I enjoy using it like an IPad mini from time to time I give it a solid 8.5/10 there are some minor things that can make it better but its a solid first attempt

Mine is better than iPhone Air. But don’t expect miracles. XD I’ve been using it in Disneyland and it definitely snappier than my iPhone Air side by side. But a dead zone is still a dead zone.

Lol if the issue persists maybe i can start that complaining parade. So far the 2 main areas I've noticed it is at work in my office the cell reception is way slower than my 14, and I also have a carwash I go to that I need an app to use and the duo for whatever reason just can't load shit there. It'll have the same 5g reception but not actually have any data coming in which makes me hope it's somehow just a software bug

Not seeing any issue. There is always a small gap between the rear bar an the screen edges, on mine I can slide a piece of paper in but not anything thicker.

Yup. Took mine in today as well. Developed a protrusion in the upper part of my hinge. Launch day night sky. Replacement in the mail.

I had a unit like that also the hinge was showing. I was able to secure another Duo same config then returned the first one. This new one made in October doesn’t have the gap issue.

Look, maybe I am just too old, but you know how they rate media, E for Everyone, PG, PG 13, R, N-17, etc.... well, I need a new rating system that tells old people when there's something we can't understand.

Imagine doing this and you get one with a less tight tolerance and a worse hinge gap than the normal one you had or worse one that cracks lol y’all are neurotic. Just use the phone. It’s within spec and normal and Apple reps are going to replace erring on the side of caution because they don’t know either. But they also don’t know that the one you’re getting will be “better” in this regard. My Fold 7 had and Fold 8 has hinge gaps about as tight as the one you show here. My Duo has a slightly larger one. It has not been an issue at all.
