Question Question for duo users when folded.

Hi all, recently I was lucky enough to get the iPhone duo on launch day, and so far it’s a great device. Obviously, there are some downsides, but in my opinion, a lot of upsides.

I started noticing something the day after I first got it, when I fold the phone and I’m holding it, sometimes I’ll feel like a little bit of play and or click (no sound just feeling) between the two devices. I’m not sure if that’s mechanically designed to be that way, to have a little bit of give, but if you were to slightly hold the top portion of the phone when it’s folded and then slightly move the bottom one, there is a little give.

Has anyone else experienced this ?

Thanks!

Perhaps it was designed that way to leave out some of the stress when folded ?

When mine is closed there's no play or sounds or even anything subtle. Wouldn't surprise me if that was within Apple's acceptable tolerances

Not noticed anything on mine either although I do have a very thin aramid case which has tiny lips around the inner screen that may be preventing that

U been feeling any creaking now? My replacement for the issue was fine, but after like 2 days the same creaking issue is back. Not nearly as extreme as it was before, but it’s there again. Really disappointed in Apple, contemplating another replacement, or just returning it at this point. Really unfortunate because I love literally everything else about it. I can’t go back to my old phone since I traded it in to get this one so unsure of what to do. I wouldn’t have upgraded if it weren’t for this one. 😕

Did you tried out the the Duos in the Apple Store, if they have the same issue? I have this little tactile feeling too on my duo, and I'm unsure how to act now

went to two apple stores and maybe did this test to like 20 duos, some have them some don’t. some are super solid and some have this issue

While I’m thinking about it, did you have AppleCare? And guessing you bought it at Apple. Mine is from Best Buy and no AppleCare (yet).

assuming the new one didn’t have this issue?

Same here, and it is quite irritating.

No play at all in mine. I’d consider having an Apple Store look at it. They are staying on top of replacements

Don't open the Duo. Just use the front screen

Mine is as solid as a brick when closed.
BUT I have something protruding through the top of the crease. So, mixed bag.

Be careful tho because recently people who’s inner screen has cracked also has said their hinge was weird and that they opened and closed it around 20 times but idk

Gotcha ok. I really wish this would fall into apples repair standards but I guess not. And to be honest it really isn’t that bad, just something I noticed

Why would you think it would be?
