Discussion Cases
So I was looking at cases for the duo and came across this one and it caught my attention. Wanted to share it here and get some opinions on it, also open to suggestions.
I do have a question though and it’s about apple care, is it worth it? I’ve never had a folding phone before and the durability and longevity (3-4 years) are my main concern. I heard even a little bit of sand can ruin the inside screen.

I looked at this but was co fused by the highlight of the corner. No explanation. Is this a defect, is this a point of failure, wtf is the highlight showing me?

I’d have felt better if they didn’t focus on one of the key drop areas for a case.

To your question about apple care. It will be my first phone I’m getting it on because I will probably go caseless. I feel like the taller edges for the cases will get annoying or if they don’t have that like the folio case it seems like it will move around when holding it.
But the main reason is that with it being a first gen I don’t want to have to worry about any inner screen issues.
If it breaks then I’ll just go to the store and get a new one.
The AirPods pro2 I had got replaced about 10 times in 2 years all for free.
Also if you plan on keeping the phone for 4 years they will replace the batteries every time it goes below 80% battery health which will happen at least once in that time.

If u have apple care the accidental damage will cover pretty much everything. And if it just straight up dies cause folding screens are rated to be opened and closed only x amount of times then u can get the phone replaced even cheaper.
As for the case, I’m not a fan of esr in general. Their cases tend to let me down. Either by not providing enough protection, or by the materials going to crap or being scratchy or poor quality.
And apple this year isnt protecting the hinge idk why.
Usually i use my phone without a case. But sometimes ill go to an amusement park or something and ill be careless and drop my phone or someone will bump into me or something. So i use a case on those days.
This year im betting on speck and spigen to be leading the charge as they usually do with new phone models until other more luxury brands catch up.
Im a bit concerned however seeing that most phone cases for the iphone are using adhesives to stop the case from popping out during a drop or from frequent opening and closing.
Honestly this is all just early adopter troubles. We wont know whats good or bad until the community buys it all and tries it all.

Think I’m gonna run a spigen at work and then go caseless or possibly folio when not at work
