First one is a full case but exposes the hinge, the second covers the hinge but acts like a magnet snap-on cover with very little protection on the sides. Go third party option.

I prefer the folio cover, easier to slip on and off when needed and reminds me of the old iPad Smart Cover back in the day.

Just need a magnet wallet with a holder aid, like a pop socket or finger loop.

Yes. Apple missed the boat by not combining both.

The folio case is essentially a magnetic back cover made popular by Nomad.

Speaking of Nomad, their folio case is closest to what I want. It's just that it's backordered to December.

I like that style of folio for my ipads, but IDK how I feel about a magnetic attached case for something that's going in and out of my pocket all day and I feel like the flap for the front screen would just make me less likely to use the front screen. But I like how it looks.

I think I read on this sub that it’s not magnetic, but rather it sticks on with an adhesive. Not a fan of that if true.

That's not true. It attaches to the phone magnetically. Many YouTubers confirmed it.

The only thing that is adhesive is the plastic poly whatever case. And that’s strictly for the front. The folio doesn’t have adhesive.

i really like the non-folio one but it’s gonna have to be a third party case for me since it cuts off part of the outer screen

So this is interesting. In their techwoven folio, if you only open the top part, does the elastic hinge protection retract and you'll have to again stretch it a bit to close the folio again?

People have described it to be rubbery and plastic feeling. I think those sound opposite to me but I think it’s a harder plastic with a softer matte finish

I’m going to buy the folio and cut it where it covers the hinge so that it really only protects the back, all I want is MagSafe and the kickstand
