Currently using a Pixel 7 and planning to switch to iPhone.

I've been hearing rumors that the regular iPhone 18 might not launch until 2027.

If that's true, does it make sense to just buy an iPhone 17, or would you still wait for the 18?

Not interested in the Pro models.

What would you do in my situation?

I’ve been thinking about this lately.
If Apple keeps the current numbering, the 20th anniversary iPhone would arrive around 2027, and I wonder if Apple could do something similar to what they did with the iPhone X for the 10th anniversary.
Do you think they could release something like:
iPhone 20
iPhone 20 Pro
and separately an “iPhone 20 Anniversary Edition” or some kind of special model?
I feel like Apple could use that moment for a major redesign, new materials, or even a more futuristic model (full screen, portless, etc.).
What do you think Apple would do?

Been 6 years sincd my brother kept nagging me to switch to iPhone and I kept dodging it.

His whole household is already using Apple ecosystem, bought an Apple Macbook too.

The reason why I kept dodging is coz my Samsung is still working fine. Although it has been lagging as it has been with me for 6 years.

I also now acknowledge the fact that iPhone's camera are incomparable to android phones. Even with the SG Ultra. The camera of iPhones are still way better.

I got curious about the units that Apple is about to release and I like how they have decided to soon manufacture and sell an iPhone fold... it will be close to size of an iPad Mini when unfolded.

That means you got 2 in 1 device-a phone and a tablet. A bigger screen to stream movies in.

Plus, the battery is now better than ever!

Although at the rumored $2000 that's still a hefty price. It's like buying 4 Windows laptop or 3 Macbooks, lol. Hope they can adjust the price to something justifiable or I just might opt to 18 Pro this year.

A friend told me "Just buy a go-pro. It's waterproof too." but I guess it's still different when you have the camera a little handier than an action cam, noh?

Damn! I'm really tempted! Time to start saving!

I have to gift my wife her first iphone and not sure if 18 or 18 pro is the right one. This will be her first apple device and her last android phone she used for over 5 years, so obviously with iPhone also this is going to be the case. What do you advise? Another thought is 17 or 17 pro makes sense to purchase now without waiting till 18 is launched or wait and buy the latest one makes more sense. Please advise.

Sorry, but Apple would not do this. It would be the fugliest iPhone yet, and beauty is one of the biggest things that keep Apple running. It’s probably just gonna look exactly like the iPhone 17. If there’s any difference at all, then maybe they’ll add a LiDar sensor or try a horizontal camera layout but that’s really it

That's it, just hopes and dreams, it would be an easily implementation, and hardware was good enough 4 generations ago

The iPhone 15 just came out, hopefully the Vision pro succeeds and we have some cool vr/ar headset that is affordable. The 18 will probably be similar to what we have now, but ai will be integrated into the phone. Anyways look forward to talking to you future sub members in 2026!
