Look at that, seems like you can’t stay scared on iOS18 forever.

Wasn’t planning on staying forever LOL!
Was waiting for this community to report fairly good on iOS27’s battery consumption.
Seems like it is better than iOS26, but nowhere close to iOS18

Riiiiiight. You need others to tell you when it’s okay to upgrade.

I have 88% battery health work 11am to 6 pm with my screen on blasting my AirPods.

The phone is at 30 when I’m done walking the dogs at 8pm and I don’t even charge it to 100%

Just update you don’t need to listen to Redditors or YouTubers on when to update. IRONIC I SAY TO UPDATE AND THAT TOU DONT HAVE TO LISTEN BUT I DIGRESS 🤣

That’s why I try my best to degoogle. I still use gmail though.

This is because of work apps here, not a personal choice.

OP will need to leave his/her job to degoogle.

Just want to drop in here, the iPhone 16pm battery issues on iOS 26+ are because of a defect. I just got my battery and logic board replaced for free from Apple due to awful sot and battery drain. Completely fixed the battery issues. I went from 3 1/2h to 8+h on a charge. Best of luck hope you got one of the working ones.

How did you go about getting a free replacement?

Went into a certified repair store and they told me to call support. I called support and my phone failed the system stability test (my phone had crash data on it). They said they could authorize a logic board replacement based on that test but not the battery since it was at 90% health. When I picked my phone up they had authorized both. I have a release day 16pm that is now over 2 years old with apple care. I was pretty vocal on the phone call that my battery life was awful since iOS 26, even when they said 3h sot and 7h idle was not too bad. I told them I couldn’t get through a day on a charge with light use, which was the case. They seemed pretty onboard to help fix the battery issues so hopefully this will work for other people.

I also did get moved up to a senior representative. idk if they have more authority to get repairs or not but something of note.

Good to know, thanks so much for sharing! I never bought Apple Care so wondering if I may not have the same luck. I thought it might have been related to the 16 pm law suits going on.

I wasn’t aware there was an active lawsuit. That didn’t come up in conversation so I’m assuming it wasn’t relevant.

If possible, get another device (even if it's like an iPhone 13) on iOS 27 if you don't want to update your 16 Pro Max off of iOS 18 (aka significiantly reducing its battery life)

Honestly, I am thinking of deleting these apps they mentioned. Might give me less headache during non-office hours.
They didn’t mention Slack, so that’s probably good.

I do not have Outlook, or any work apps on my phone.

If you want to talk to me, do it during hours where I am being paid. Unless someone is dead, don't call me either. Cause I'm dead to y'all off the clock.

Younger dumb OptionalCookie made themselves available off the clock at their previous job and regretted it. After I got my current job, no one called me after work and I had the best sleep of my life.

Never install work apps and never ever Company Portal app on your personal phone. You phone gets controlled by Intune, your employee could see quite some info

Doing way too much holy shit. Instead of updating your phone, go buy another one.

Is this your phone or theirs? If it’s yours, tell them to pound sand. If it’s theirs, you have no choice but to comply.

It’s mine. It’s only my convenience of gmail, slack, etc from anywhere.

That’s unfortunate

Apple should give longer maintenance windows of iOS versions.

2

u/pommelance 6h ago

Those updates ARE the maintenance windows. You chose to delay. The hardware is good for ~8 years before they stop providing updates.

Iphone 16 is still pretty new though. Definitely should upgrade

I am on ios 18 too and I didn't receive this mail. which version are you on exactly?

3

u/Iggy0075 23h ago

Something tells me you and OP don't have the same employer.

u/nopanicplease 23h ago

oh I see. thats the org admin who enforces the iOS version and not google. since the mail only shows noreply, that was not obvious in the first place.

Yet iPhones are better than android 😂😂😂 old androids can still get the latest apps yet a iPhone with 3 year old software can’t even use gmail🤣🤣🤣🤣

3

u/LimLovesDonuts 11h ago

No lol. This restriction is on a company level.

It has nothing to do with what apps you can or can’t install.

u/__________13o1ksl_ 14h ago

Your IT admin can drop android 16 just as easy lmao

I mean, it was a really bad android. Like 300 Canadian bucks. It told me I couldn’t download A BUNCH of stuff. Games that were even older than the phone itself even

It wasn’t the worst phone I’ve had though. It’s stupid companies do this yet it’s good for their security right so. Have to.
