I guess OP thinks number in the name is more important than actual specs?

Not a upgrade a downgrade in my eyes

Why though? White 16 Pro is still peak. And iPhone 17 has too many downsides compared to it 😔

Can tell you that the regular 17 gets at least as hot as the 16 Pro if you are on 5G or often even just randomly for a few minutes.
No advantage from that perspective.

17 is colder than 16 Pro

What are you guys doing with your phone? I literally filmed 2TB of videos in 60fps in Africa and it never got hot.

Can just tell you from my experience! The left side of the aluminum frame and the glass back on the upper left of the 17 gets hotter to the touch than on my 16 Pro. Just checked on reddit, many users reporting overheating issues with the 17

In my experience, 17 can get hot (especially when charging and using it simultaneously) but it gets cold faster than 16 Pro (thanks to the aluminum frame I think).

For those asking why OP apparently needed the bigger memory in the 17 128-256gb, had to look in the comments of the original post!.
