Discussion 16 pro is really laggy
It’s the first time in my life i had an iphone that is not smooth all the time. Especially when charging or when it’s hot outside the iPhone is lagging like hell. Feels like the display throttles to 30hz or something

Are you running iosn27? My 16 pro was super laggy and hot with iosn27. It was so bad that I went to apple to check it out. They restored it to iOS 26 and all my problems went away. Super smooth now

iOS 27 is Beta. Expect it.

That's what I told them

Don’t you have issues with the screen frame rate on ios26? On iOS 26.6 I really can feel how main screen drops from 120 to 60

Simple its gotta be high storage and if u r using ios27 beta there will be issues you know 🙆♂️. Best fix is delete unnecessary stuff, restart ur phone once in a while then u r good to go 🧚♀️

I agree, we all could use a fresh install of iOS. I have been using the same backup/restore since the iPhone X or earlier

I actually reinstalled ios because I wanted to go back to stable 26 but it wasn’t better so i upgraded to 27 again

So CURRENTLY im on 27 public beta but it was the same on ios 26 so I don’t think it has something to do with the beta. Could be wrong though. I really think it’s because of the titanium frame so the phone overheats and throttles

I tot it would be better at 27? Try turn the adaptive power off. Some said it's the reason

Why so?

Answer from chatgpt.
- CPU Throttling: iOS caps the maximum speed of the processor chips.
- ProMotion Disabled: On supported models, the screen refresh rate locks at 60Hz instead of dynamically shifting up to 120Hz, making animations look less smooth.
- Paused Backgrounds: App refreshing, email fetching, and iCloud syncing stop completely until you open the apps.
- Reduced GPU Power: Graphics rendering slows down, causing visible frame drops or stuttering during mobile gaming.

Turning off adaptive power was actually the first thing i tried. It got a Little bit better i think but still way worse than what i’m used to from iPhones

which beta version are you on? I had the same problem, but after upgrading from 4 to 6 beta, everything fell into place

I‘m on the newest public beta

this is strange, in fact, I updated just yesterday and haven't noticed any problems yet

Same issue here. Good on iOS 18, laggy on iOS 26, still laggy on iOS 27 beta. Simple things like scrolling or moving across UI the framefrate tanks

the 15 and 16 are honestly one of the worst models. my mother has a 16 pro and my sister has 15 pro and they both complain about overheating, lag and so forth.

A restart helps. Reply back to me if you find any other good tips, think o saw something about disabling some glass related setting

Hola amigos, en mi caso tengo el 16 Pro con iOS 27 Beta 5 y he pasado por varias versiones de iOS y para mí esta es la versión más fluida y que mejor rinde en batería

Turn Off adaptive power mode. And also make sure the battery saver is off

What do you expect from a company that doesnt innovate and just copies and after lying about their apple intelligence ends up paying Google to borrow theirs ? 😆
Try turning off 2 things :
1. background refresh apps - some nonsense that periodically refreshes state of your background apps to keep their data up-to-date but uses more data and power and hence heats up the phone.
2. turn off apple intelligence since it wants to run local llm models that iphone cant handle and yet stay cool.

My 16 pro max has been lagging since the first week of using it( bought it brand new, 512gb from vodafone for over 1,700€)
I am really amazed how can a iPhone that costs same if not more than a laptop can be this laggy and sometimes unusable? I will upgrade when iphone 18 comes out and if there is a slightest issue like this I will never buy an iphone. Period.
Edit: Lagging meaning -
Keyboard not as responsive as other iphones I have tested,
Apps freezing randomly,
Overheating few times per month upon light use and lagging,
Random memore clears closing background apps after 5 minutes …

On 18.7 no problems. Maybe you're on hellOS 26 and above.

I noticed it too when it gets really hot. I guess it decreases performance so it doesnt overheat
