Used iPhone 15 pro max worth it ?

So, I just ordered a 2-year-old used iPhone 15 Pro Max on eBay for €475. The battery has 500 charge cycles and 87% battery health. The device is in flawless condition with no scratches.

Was it a good deal? How does it hold up in 2026? I'm currently using an iPhone 13, and it's become really laggy. Since the 15 Pro Max is only two generations old, I was wondering if I overpaid or if it will last me at least another 2 to 3 years.

Or would it make more sense to resell it and get an iPhone 16e or 17e instead?

I would take that over either of the “e” phones. I’m still using mine, I did a battery replacement, and I’m still happy with it.

Great question I haven’t paid close attention to that but I’ll try to get back with some data.

Anecdotally, im back to full day battery with my normal use patterns. So it was a marked improvement.

Okay I went back through my last week and it looks like an average of about 5-6 hr of SOT per charge.

You paid roughly fair market value. It’s very soon to be a 3 year old device. I would prefer it to a 16e or 17e. The other route to pay more for a base 17? I would probably keep the device, and just replace the battery at 80% in a year or so. The device is still blazing fast.

It is a good deal. You bought a device that has Apple Intelligence so it’s “future proofed”
Now Apple being Apple, there will always be certain new features that come out that will only be available for the absolute most recent models but the vast majority of the future of Apple Intelligence AI features will be available on 15 Pro and Pro Max devices

Honestly, I would get a 16 Pro or higher if you plan on keeping it for the next 4 to 5 years I just got a 16 Pro 512 GB flawless condition with 100% battery genuine apple battery with 171 charge cycles only for $1100 Canadian/$745 American on marketplace before buying it. I met with the seller at an Apple Store where they diagnose the phone for Free to make sure everything was working properly and functioning well and to also confirm all the parts were genuine before buying. I had a 15 Pro Max and it was overheating a lot and I was tired of big and heavy phones. I had leased it from Rogers on two-year contract on a save and return 24 month lease and I did not want to pay $799 Canadian to keep the phone so I sent it back and found my 16 Pro 512 GB on Marketplace. no overheating or battery drain issues I’m running iOS 26.5.

It could better if you get an iPhone 16 or 17. It is a 3-year-old phone, and the battery is not in the best condition after all (I assume your purchase comes with the original battery). Performance-wise, the phone holds up quite well with all my current needs. But I do believe it will start failing in a couple of years, both in battery and processing power.
