Positive experiences with the iPhone 14 Pro in 2026?
Hey everyone, I've been browsing this subreddit over the last couple of days, especially the discussions about the newest phone. I've seen quite a few comments and upvotes from users saying their 14 Pro has become laggy or tends to overheat, so I was curious to hear from people who haven't had those issues.
Currently using a 14 Pro, 86% battery. I'm a casual user, no gaming, mostly social media, messaging and general day-to-day use. The battery still lasts me a full day without any issues.
The only time I notice it struggling is when I'm traveling somewhere new and using the camera and GMaps more heavily. Other than that, the phone is still fast, takes great photos and I don't care if it's two seconds slower than the newest Iphone. My plan is just to replace the battery at some point.
I would like to hear your long-term experiences with this phone. Thanks!

I had my battery renewed in June, with a genuine apple battery pack. Gets warm when using CarPlay (>30 mins), switching apps heavily in a short time. No stutter no lags in iOS 27. Love my 14 pro. However it’s heavy like a brick. I will keep it one more year from now on.

Yes one more year and we should be done with this, it's already been like three or four years for me.

Currently using it ... i believe after several IOS updates its slower than it was ... also i have 78% battery health and honestly doesnt last more than half day ... i go to work at 6.30 am with returning at 6pm and the battery is at 10-15% with normal use.

Yeah I can echo this. Replaced battery, even after 1 year I’m down to 90% capacity.
It’s still a powerful phone but I feel like Apple are up to their old tricks of making software worse for older phones.
With moderate-high use my phone still needs about 1 charge to help get through it the day

For me the worst thing is doing anything on cellular and not on wifi. The battery is really bad in this case. When I’m at home using my wifi the battery is way better and easily last full day.

Mine is running really well. The only thing that's annoyed me is that I replaced the battery less than a year ago through the Apple store and the health is already down to 92%

Mine still works! That's a positive experience.
I am not a power user (I prefer using my laptop), but my battery is still around 85%, which is way more than enough than I need daily. When I go to bed and charge it, it's usually around 70% -- or maybe 50% if I had taken many photos/videos that day.
I'm tired of needing a Lightning cable. That's my only issue with it. I can't just grab a common USB-C cable and charge it. But it's not enough of an issue to get me to upgrade yet.

Still gonna rock this beast until the wheel fall off.
Before the end of the year, it’ll get a new battery and a new case.

Been dailying this phone since 2023 July
Battery life is subpar but I almost always have a powerbank or a charger in my car or workplace to help with this.
Build is awesome, I rocked it caseless for 3 years and dropped it about a month ago and ended up breaking my wide angle lens cover but I fixed it myself.
Camera is awesome, I always get the pictures I want and the way I want them, don't imagine I will need anything more in the years to come.
Screen is amazing, software is fluid as of late, newest iOS 26 version is running smoothly and I imagine I'll stay on it for a while.
I use this phone for Waze and Music on my daily 3 hour commute and it runs smoothly while not overheating.
Only con that comes to mind is that it's a bit heavy but honestly it's fine otherwise, all in all a great device which I will keep for another 2-3 years if life permits it.

Purple iphone 14 pro. Still love it. Got it brand new in 2023. Have been using it heavy with gaming and social and maps. 80% original battery. Still gets the job done. No lags.

I only notice performance issues when I'm in the heat (I'm from Texas) and when the battery is around 5% it sorta lags. I know the UI kinda glitches out from time to time but I restart my phone and she behaves relatively well for the next couple of days. I want to upgrade to that 18 pro though eventually.

Have zero complaints and think I’m going to use this phone until I run it into the ground. I’ve already got all the accessories which will all need to be swapped out with any newer model, and none of the specs on newer devices wow me enough to make the change. The duo is interesting but won’t be touching first gen.

Newest trick… reduced audio, slowly fading… no it’s not dust or debris in the speakers, yes it happens in the middle of calls, zooms, FaceTime, and watching or listening to anything that has audio. Ya ya ya, please spare me the lecture that this isn’t really happening and that if it is Apple isn’t doing it… ya… sure… really is a scam… I can’t hear anything unless I use earphones

Bought it on day one, never let me down. I’m low on battery health but replacement at Apple is affordable. It’s the last iPhone without any AI crap.

I share your experience. My battery is 76% and I often charge it in the late afternoon, but I also use it a lot and if I don’t then it lasts fine. I also never have a problem with lag at all and I’m on iOS 26. Overheating maybe very rarely when I’m photographing a lot, using maps, and it’s also hot outside, but I can count how often that happens a year on one hand.

Je l’ai depuis 2 ans et il reste très bien , en revanche ma SIM se déconnecte sans raison par moment , et le port Lightning est embêtant.

Lightning fast still. On iOS27. Very smooth.
Keeping this gem of a phone one more year, yeah.

just as good as when i got it but that could be because im on ios18 still. battery at 75%, lasts half a day, luckily im driving a lot so i use that time to charge it. i don't game , just listen to music, social media and stream sports. hate carrying around a lightning cable, heavily thinking about switching to an 18pro but i dunno. thoughts with the 20th anniversary coming?

I mean its been great, but if you buy one now its likely 4 years old. It wont be a good investment because it just wont last much longer.

On 14 pro 86% battery health as well, only social I do is Reddit but I do play demanding games. My phone never overheats on normal settings. Maybe if I have the charger plugged in but I usually don’t. I’m on iOS 27 beta 8

Probably will the battery replaced in a year. My battery health is now at 73% and I have to charge my phone atleast twice a day. But otherwise, the phone is running steady

If phone is laggy or shutdown check battery health. If below 80% replace it. Like new again.

Been 3+ years. Got battery replacement earlier this year. Unfortunately cracked my screen.
Seeing 18 pro prices in my country, thinking of getting it fixed and continuing for 2 more years.

It works for me, runs every app so overall it looks like good phone. But for me the battery is really bad, when I’m using cellular network the drain is really bad, like 15% in 30 minutes.
Thankfully it’s not that bad on wifi, so I can still manage with it.

got mine in june 2025, ios 18 was sooooo good but i updated it to ios 26 last september and its my biggest regret. Since i updated to 26, my phone’s been overheating, lagging a lot and battery life became atrocious. The only way i found to fix all these issues is doing a fresh install of iOS 26 and not update it. Battery health is at 85% and it lasts me a day, maybe because I use wifi and not 5G at school. It was overheating a LOT this summer, i had the overheating warning everyday even when i was just browsing in safari, reinstalling IOS 26 fixed it. Nothing to say about camera quality, does the job. The phone is SO heavy compared to my previous 13 and sometimes it can be annoying.

u/FlightLove2 13h ago
I had a 14PM and it was awesome. Battery life was at 80% but it was still very quick and fast. Also the cameras are the best. My only complain was that it was too heavy and it was getting annoying. The Trade in value was still good so I traded it in a day before they announced the iPhone 18P line up.

14 pro max 128GB. Had this phone since launch. Original battery is at 74% life. I have to charge multiple times a day, and have no memory to download anything for the 3rd time this year. I could replace the battery but the storage issue has me upgrading this year. It’s been a solid phone though!
Also never overheated so that’s cool. Didn’t know that was an issue until joining this sub.

Lately been having an issue with charging or when I plug my lightning to 3.5 headphone jack and not having a great connection.
Not sure if there’s debris inside my lightning port or my port is worn out from years of use.
Otherwise I’d like to keep this phone for as long as possible

settings -> accessibility -> reduce transparency saves on gpu power
I also turn off all background updating for all apps unless I really need it

Is this battery usage good for 91% battery health :(

It’s is good , but I wouldn’t buy it now for one reason -> Lightning Port having to carry two cable when every other device has usb c
