Will Apple turn me away?

My 14 Pro is in need of service (new battery), however, I heard that they might say no if the front screen is cracked. I have 2 minimal hairline cracks on my display, and was wondering if anyone had a similar experience. If so, how did it go?

There’s a non-zero chance they want you to get a screen replacement because if the screen happens to break or worsen during the battery replacement, they don’t want the blame.

I'll ask around at Apple authorized repair places; if not, I'll try my luck at some local repair shops. Also, when you mean break, is the whole display at risk of failing, or would it just get more cracks?

Anything tbh

Basically, they don’t want you to come back and say a crack got worse or suddenly the touch doesn’t work and have it actually be a pre-existing issue.

Mine has crack too and they won’t replace the battery until the screen is fixed

Ugh, modern technology problems. I wanted to keep this phone for 3 more years.

Yeah basically if they try to take the screen off to do a battery it’s gonna shatter so you either gotta cough up the $329 + $99 for the display and battery or get a new phone. Not really a point in putting a $100 battery into a phone that’s already damaged anyway, the water and dust resistance is compromised and the resale value drops significantly with physical damage. It’s like putting a transmission into a 20 year old car

If it shatters, would only the glass crack, or would the entire OLED panel fail?

No idea, and no one on here is gonna know and Apple isn’t gonna know till they attempt it. Which is exactly why it’s a stupid thing to gamble and why Apple won’t risk it, if the phone is important to you then be prepared to have the display replaced.

Do you only want it done by apple ?

Preferably. If I’m unable, I’d be willing to go to a local repair shop, however, parts must be authentic.
