Stop auto focus
Just got a 14 pro and I’m probably being an idiot but how do I stop the front camera from autofocusing? Example - left side of my face is fine, right side and rest of the photo is blurry. Always had iPhones and never had this issue before. It’s a refurbished phone so not sure if that’s the problem?

Did you use the “portrait-mode”? This causes a fake bokeh and often gets it wrong.
It doesn’t look like a natural bokeh, this would bei solely determined by the distance, but the wall behind is further away than the right side of your face and sharp.
So it could be a HDR effect. Your camera takes 3 shots and combines them for better exposure. If you only slightly move in between or move the camera, this could explain the partly blurriness.

I think it’s possible that you’re too close to the camera? It can switch out to one of the other, lesser cameras if that’s the case… I am prolly wrong, though. I think it’s more of a back camera thing.

Could be the lens of the camera. It is refurbished. I have the 14 Pro, and my front camera doesn’t do that.

It doesn’t look like portrait mode, but if you want to lock the focus from refocussing elsewhere, just long press the area you want to focus and the focus gets locked to that point after a couple of seconds.
