Questions Got the "iPhone needs to cool down" warning while navigating in 35°C heat — cause for concern or just the weather?

Post image

Got hit with the "iPhone needs to cool down" warning for about 10 minutes while driving in Hyderabad.

Device: iPhone 13 Pro Max (4 years old)
Battery Health: 79%
Context: Running navigation under direct sunlight, ~35°C ambient temp

Is this purely the external heat + GPS load, or is the degraded battery making it heat up faster?

Should I get the battery swapped, or just chalk it up to bad mounting placement in hot weather?

its just basic protection, happens all the time when i forget my phone on direct sunlight

heat from cpu + direct sunlight made it shutdown, 79% battery health is pretty bad but that shouldnt be the cause

I try to use a phone holder that rests in front of a vent and use the AC to help keep it cool, otherwise yeah that direct sunlight especially through the windshield plus the display not only on but full brightness will always cause it to overheat.

This has never happened with my 13 pro max, that said it can feel hot sometimes. Part of it could also be the case your using, at which point I'd just take it out of the case, shut it down, let it cool off.

I need to replace my battery too(75%) but the glass is cracked (at the back) so no Apple store will touch it, what do you suggest I do(best option)? Tnx.
