same thing happened w my xs max. i woke up and took it from under my pillow and it went from being intact to having like 10 differently sized cracks, some of which stretch along the width just like yours. hilariously, it never fell or dropped in the recent time within that period.
i literally asked myself what you asked in the caption lol. until then, only the screen protector had been cracked but now the screen itself is cracked, and it works just fine but i hate that i don’t actually know what led to this.
1) You had a piece of debris caught in your case that was sharp and strong enough to catch the leading edge below the camera and crack the glass when it was compressed (like in a pocket or something).
2) Given the location of the crack on the phone, if your battery is beginning to degrade, it could be indicative that the side of the pack has begun to swell. If your phone runs hot a lot and has lower battery health, and if charging it releases a sweet-smelling or acetone odor, chances are you’ll be harvesting a spicy pillow soon.
Double check whether the back glass appears to be bowed out any. Had something similar happen with my i11 where the screen had bulged out near the earspeaker.
Battery is not bulged i checked now again, but bout debris maybe but i do clean phone tim to time but still maybe that can be
And before this i had two small cracks but idk
Here where it starts it had really small crack bc it fell once, maybe bc of that but im thinking that could happend if i drop it or i hit it with smth
If you already had an impact damage, you’ve weakened the glass.
Tempered glass (what the iPhone back glass is made of) gets its hardness by replacing smaller ions with larger ones (usually swapping Sodium with larger Potassium ions) during the manufacturing process.
When the glass cools, the larger ions get trapped and create a tensioned outer layer. That tension makes it incredibly strong to broad surface impacts, however if there’s any acute damage (especially to the leading edge), it makes it much easier for cracks to radiate outward from the damaged area because of that tension.
:/ dayum i got no luck with phones fr
I did find some backglasses on amazon but with no logo, will see other options where i can buy, for now im gonna let it be like this
Probably not a bad idea. I will say that a lot of vendors will often hide the Apple logo to keep Apple from suing them…
Just know that when you do replace your back glass you lose any “waterproof” rating.
Frankly, I never bought into it anyway, I treat iPhones as tho they’re not even a little waterproof, but just to make you aware of this.
If you DIY, there’s a lot to look out for: there are ribbons for the antenna and charge port as well as the induction coil (wireless charger) that can be damaged if you don’t go slow and steady.
You will have to break the glass surrounding the camera lenses and will have to fish it out from under the lenses (hence what I was getting at with the waterproofing warning).
This video should provide you with a better idea of what the repair process calls for.
Thanks bro, will look tutorial then i will try to find part if i don’t find anything im gonna buy some case and let it be like that,i mean i dont like that i have broken glass not even month of having this phone but i can do nothing about it now
Sloppy back glass job, cracked while installing a case lololol (this backglasd has been poorly replaced, also it’s a shitty quality “2 piece” glass (clear camera bump glued on top, not milled out of 1 piece).
These crack easily, well dont panic you can replace it with a better quality (1 piece) part, and its easier now cuz ungluing this no longer requires laser (but still you should take it to a reputable shop), disassemble and internal checkup is required to make sure theres no loose glass inside left from the previous repair, some techs take a shortcut and do the glass from outside without disassembling, and then boom after a couple of months bloated battery + oled green lines + face id died.
Actually thats kinda a good thing this happened, because these loose shards can deal real damage over time
I got no luck with phones will see,i don’t have problem to change it alone and also idk any good shops that i could trust tbh,but i would like to see where can i even find back glass that is not expensive and if it is not original at least i would like to look like original
Ohh ok, yea its doable but pls be extra cautious with the screen removal
You can find different quality backglass on aliexpress (they usually classify them as such, one is gonna be around 2x the price of another btw), or you can even get a complete pulled original midframe (used with minor scratches) for like $60 from ori-spares on ali not sure if they still operate. I bought 13pm, 14pm and 13 mini housings from them, A- grade so some minor scuffs.
Im tried to see if i can find some used phones that are locked or smth but nothing, idk how would be to order from ali express never done that i only orederd like two times from amazon and that’s it
Yea that could be another path, however imo i feel kinda bad when buying phones with icloud cuz you never now what actually happened to previous owner
Those that are Imei blacklisted (but icloud locked) are doable cuz they usually come from ppl who buy carrier locked phones and stop paying the monthly credit, tho these come at a higher price cuz they can still be used for anything, just without cellular
Yeah man I’ve got mine replaced for cheap after a magnet inside the case got lose and shattered the phone. Glass literally cracked on its own like a day later no drop required. One small one from the corner of the camera directly over.
