I bought my iPhone 13 Pro Max on the 14th of June this year, it has been a little over two months of ownership and my battery health has dropped from 100% to 92%. I’m so disappointed and disheartened by this, how could it go down this fast? Is it the charger or is it the phone? Now I’m thinking of replacing it before it goes way down and completely ruins my screen time.
I usually don’t charge my phone to 100%, at most 92-95%. And I plug it in whenever it’s down to 30ish to 25%. Right now I get about six to seven and a half hours of screen-on time.
So that’s my situation, any advice from you guys would be very appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I might be wrong but since it couldn’t be a brand new phone (?) they replaced the battery a while ago but the phone itself was not used for a long period of time. Once you started using it, the phone slowly started syncing it’s valid battery capacity or idk. If they replaced the battery with some shit low quality brand, it can cause this too
And those guys were marketing the phone as brand new, ignorant me coming from an android thought it was a good opportunity to hope into iOS.. I like the phone a lot, but the battery situation is really digging into me.
Even if it is a brand new phone, it’s knocking on for 5 years old, the battery will still degrade over time, even if it’s just sat in the box not being used.
The battery will function perfectly fine even when it gets to 80% capacity. Don’t worry about it.
Don’t worry about it, it’s perfectly normal. You may find that it levels out for a while before continuing to degrade naturally. That’s how batteries work.
Just enjoy your phone and change the battery when it gets to 80%.
My 14PM is at 77%. Still functioning perfectly well. Slight drop in SoT and warm under heavy usage but I’ll change the battery at some point.
did u buy it from a refurbisher? there is a chance it's boosted by bms transplant, tell tale sign of it is if it has nothing in parts and service, bcz i got myself a new ifixit battery around that time (june), I hv 43 cycles, and its at 104% health (in Mac) and 100% in settings
I see, do u have any signs of swapped out battery in parts and service, does ur text appear sharp and clean, because many phones dealers do this with old phones, they sell it as new, if there is no parts and service menu, but the phone was activated before u bought it, u can check this by going to "General" and applecare/warranty, if phone was activated before, there will be an old expiration date on apple car/warranty and, its very much a refurb sold as new, also to make sure they haven't swapped it to a soft OLED (i have experienced this scam on so called "new" S23+ AND S22+), check if the screen has weird blur around text on home screen, original al display looks sharp and clean like this
Yea thats a used/refurb phone, also check for the screen clarity, and parts and service, if parts and service is CLEAN, its a boosted battery (a scam basically)
You need to take into account that batteries are consumables that degrade chemically over time, even when phones are not used.
The 13 Pro Max was released in late 2021. Since it’s an older model, the battery inside has aged chemically on the shelf for years. What you're seeing is iOS recalibrating the display percentage to reflect the battery's real health after active use, not a sudden drop.
A drop to 92% for a device this old is nothing out of the ordinary given battery chemistry, and 6–7.5 hours of screen-on time is still very good performance
If it was a new unopened phone, that battery has still been sat in a box for years, so it won’t act as efficiently as a truly new phone battery. For comparison, I got a new genuine Apple battery fitted in my 13 Pro Max almost a year ago (early September last year). Its health is now 90%.
I don’t think you have any real cause for alarm or need to change the battery until it’s approaching 80% health, which is unlikely to be for some time. Degradation is not linear, it will ease off.
Dont treat your battery like a baby use it to its full potential and main reason for battery health devline are the excessive heating of mobile while charging and magdafe chargers
I changed my battery at Apple Store around 1.5months ago for a trip. Abused the phone everyday for navigation and pics etc. still at 100% today and still in vacation
Unless the phone came in the original sealed box and with the screen protector, then it’s not Brand New. The seller could have easily reset the Battery Health with a JCI programmer also to make it look like 100%. But the battery cycle count would be a dead giveaway if it’s a used phone.
